Danbury Mint USS Missouri Japanese Surrender 1945

This one just arrived at my doorstep yesterday. I won it on Ebay for $136.00 and am really happy with the detail and how well it fits in with the USS Hornet (same scale) that I won a couple of months back. I opted for the DM Mighty Mo' vs the FM version due to feedback from several forum members and b/c the matching scale to the Hornet. The DM Iowa is still available on the 'Bay but I'm not gonna bid for it. The Hornet and Mighty Mo' together make a great start and end of WWII display.

Enjoy (sorry about the crappy picture quality. Click on the arrows to expand the photo for detail). Also, notice the table and chairs in the 2nd to last picture where the Japanese signed their surrender.....too cool!:

Very impressive Trex! I'm happy to state that I have tread the decks of the Mighty Mo around 2 years ago when we were in Hawaii. It's a very impressive ship. Absolutely love the B 25's on the Hornet, and the chairs on the Missouri, pretty neat.

Thanks Cap! I did too about 4 years ago. I also took in the Bowfin tour as well as the rest of the Pearl Harbor/Arizona Memorial......a very powerful and emotional experience!

CE and Trex: I toured the Missouri when it was docked in Bremerton, Washington in 1980. Didn't the Navy do a lot of upgrading to it (just in time for Desert Storm)? I wonder if I would see many differences in it now or if it is back to its former self?

Cool models too.

Missouri is preserved in her 1980s/1990s fit. I'm not sure there are enough spare 20mm and 40mm mounts to render her in her 1945 appearance!
