Re: All photo thread of diecast disasters

And it seems to be the rare ones that get misstreated, too... thankfully, nothing like this has happened to me... yet!

(Though I have broken a few props and antennas during photo shoots -- what I do for you guys... )

Some of these look worse than the cracked up 747.

Re: All photo thread of diecast disasters

Very depressing pics. Pains me to see such nice models in this state! Sob!

Opinion seconded.

That Lanc' picture hurt me so !!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the 'Strawberry' '24 was mine I'd have walked to the beach (nearby) & commited it to the Sea !!!!!!!!

At least it would (still) be under the flightpath of her (real-life B.24) wartime-sisters assembly-area !¬

That tail........the pain !!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: All photo thread of diecast disasters

Wow, thought there'd be more diecast mishaps! Anyway, the Lanc is almost 100% repaired except for the props. Since they broke at the spinner, I've tried to pry out the plastic middle piece to fashion a new pin and hub but with no luck. The SB Lib is all fixed except you can't put it in retractable landing gear mode .

I have only had a one mishap and that was a package coming form Aikens. Soon as I let them know of the problem, they sent replacement model for the damaged one. Outstanding customer support.

Re: All photo thread of diecast disasters

These photos are scaring me a bit. I've bought quite a bit of diecast and I have only had a tiny bit of trouble with tanks & planes being knocked around while in transit. My very first diecast anything - my Forces of Valor Panzer IV Ausf G - had a loose bit of diorama inside the box that damaged the turret skirting, but I managed to fix that. If anyone remembers, when I received my Corgi RCAF Lancaster from Perry's one of the outboard engines was loose - again, it was fixed readily enough. Other than that... nothing ever came to me knocked around to the point where I wanted to send it back for a refund or exchange.

Now... when it comes to my clumsiness... I have only dropped diecast a few times. The worst was when I dropped my Dragon "The Millie G"... the wing separated from the fuselage. Thankfully the mold is excellent - I fit the pieces back together and the seams are still barely noticeable. Mrs. CM was more upset about the incident than I was - but then again, all she saw was a potential waste of money

Re: All photo thread of diecast disasters

I dropped my Heavenly Body B-25 a few weeks back. I broke off part of the tail, but it fit on again just fine w/o any problems. I barely notice anything wrong with it now. I broke off the .50 on my 1/72 Dragon Sherman 'Thunderbolt' by merely swiping my hand near it (total accident!). But a bit of modeling glue fixed that.

I saw the other thread and checked it out. Unfortunately because I'm in California I get charged sales tax so in the end it is really isn't much cheaper than buying it from Perrys.
