Acouple of Japanese Floates

Just received the FM Rufe float plane fighter and I am quite pleased with it. This is the only FM in my collection and only the second one I have owned.
It looks great siting with the Marushin Willow float plane trainer.

Re: Acouple of Japanese Floates

I have the Rufe and it is a nice piece, the scheme is unique and it is a unique subject. I have considered getting the Willow, but the all yellow scheme just doesn't do anything for me. I may get one down the road and add the green to the topsides.

Cool Re: Acouple of Japanese Floates

Very nice Kabelace. I've been eyeing the first FM Rufe from when the were less than $50 but never committed because I didn't do 1/48. How's the weathered paint job on this one?

Re: Acouple of Japanese Floates

Great looking pair of floatplanes. Does the Willow come with beaching gear?

Re: Acouple of Japanese Floates

The "weathered" paint job is pretty good. It would have been outstanding if FM would have weathered the floats and underside of the model, which looks factory fresh compared to the rest of the aircraft. You would have to think that the floats would take a lot of abuse and show a lot of wear, compaired to the rest of the aircraft. To bad FM missed this, I think i will try my hand at a bit of weathering on them.

Unfortunately no beaching gear is supplied with the Willow, just a stamped piece of black metal as a stand. If Marushin were to have made beaching gear for this model it would have to be heavy duty as the Willow is very heavy, the floats are solid metal.
