| Ertl Diecast - 1980s and 1990s Here a few pics of my Ertl diecasts from that time era. I wonder what the time value is. They come with all-white ordnance and some of them have stands. All have extendable/retractable gear. Some look kinda weird since I really don't have the time to get them to look nice before I go to work. ![]() ![]() ![]() And a CW VF-21 F-14 with the Ertl F-14 for scale comparison sakes. Any guesses on the Ertl scale? ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: Ertl Diecast - 1980s and 1990s I do know that I have the A-10 somewhere. And an Apache and Hind. Gotta dig through more boxes. I wonder what the worth would be. And I was wrong about the stands. Only the SR-71 and B-1b have stands. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Ertl Diecast - 1980s and 1990s Those were really the first diecast I collected. Got all of 'em except the B-1 and the Apache. Plan to hand them over to my grandson as soon as I give him my old Wal-Mart cheapies. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Ertl Diecast - 1980s and 1990s Aw, now that takes me back. These were also some of the first diecasts I had, and they were very difficult to get over here - most of mine came from Belgium, the B1 and SR71 even from France. Still have 'em in a box somewhere, and they've survived pretty well, although the decals have peeled off on most of them. My fave would probably be the F117, which they got completely wrong But it is disconcerting to think that after all these years, many of these still haven't been done "properly" in diecast - e.g. the Blackbird, Hind, and so forth. If it's not too leftfield for Ertl, then why for Corgi, HM et al? | |||||||||||||

| Re: Ertl Diecast - 1980s and 1990s A Hind would be great to have. That's an important aircraft in Cold War history, considering the Fulda Gap, Afghanistan, the Middle East. Maybe HM should consider this one! | |||||||||||||

| Re: Ertl Diecast - 1980s and 1990s I had them all even the Blue Angels F-18 bought it at Pensacola NAS museum gift shop in 1989. They also had a white USMC F-18 it came with an airport playset. I had all but the Tornado. They also did another Stealth that I had never seen before. They sadly are not worth much. The B-1 and SR-71 seem to fetch better prices. I started collectiong F1's in 1988. They were the bulk of my first diecast aviation collection. I detailed mine and painted the chromed wheels black. I had the helos too Hokum Hook,Hind,Apache and Huey. The F-14 looks closer to 1/64. When we all start to beat up the newer planes we need to remember how far this hobby has come. In the 1970's it was pretty much just Dinky and Zylmex (Z-toys) for planes. If you wanted plastic pre-built it was Bachmann mini planes. Very nice collection. Revell did a series of about 6-8 planes some with lights and sound around1988-89 that included the Mig 29 and SU-27 among others. | |||||||||||||
