Wink Re: Views of my collection...

Hi planenutsfrog, you have a great and diverse collection there. Is the display cabinet customed made?

Thanks ! No, the 2 display cabinets are kits from a specialized manufacturer near Paris.

RMK : The Fiat G91 and MB 326 are 1/48 Italeri kits built by our friend Chris. The Mirage IVA is a 1/72 Heller kit built by myself. The Super-Mystère B2 is a 1/72 Airfix kit also home built.

Good looking collection you have there. I like your selecton of WWII Soviet aircraft.

Thanks CC ! Not much choice at the moment unfortunately... Eagerly waiting for the 1/48 I-16 from HM !

Btw, do you know if a 1/48 plastic kit of the I-153 exists ?

Classic Airframes did put out the 1/48th scale I-153 as well as the I-152, and Special Hobby CZ Rep does a fairly nice looking I-15. A couple days back I saw a nice looking 1/48th scale I-153 kit on eBay that look like it might have been a resin kit, look pretty nice too (Missed bidding on that one.).

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Views of my collection...

Very impressive collection. Shame there aren't more French planes available in 1:72nd, let alone larger scale. I'm surprised you didn't keep your IXO MS-406, Bloch-152 and Dewoitine D. 520---assuming that you had them.

I used to have them, as I used to have (but not simultaneously) about 2/3 of IXO's WWII range. But like many other collectors, I have been disapointed by this brand, in spite of the improvements I made to the models.

The MS406 was really bad, so in spite of a complete repaint, I didn't keep it very long.

With little improvement, the D520 and MB152 are very decent models, but when I learnt EM would issue a D520, I decided to part with mine.

The Bloch, like the Il-2m3, Il-2m10, Do 335, and Hs-129 followed, victims of a chronic lack of space...
