Cap, I know what you mean. I grew up in the Midwest and don't think I haven't reminisced about the way it was there. Unfortunately my wife is a born and bred S. California girl and the only other place she's willing to live is Hawaii!

Reason: correcting grammatical errors
planenutsfrog - Could very well be a Solothurn - hard to tell - it could also be a German 20mm (Lahti round - the so-called "20mm long") anti-aircraft Oerlikon cannon - they used one in the movie "Thunderbolt & Lightfoot" several years ago with Clint Eastwood, George Kennedy, & Jeff Bridges; it was used to blow open an armory vault. I've fired both the Solothurn as well as the Finnish Lahti - I like the Solothurn much better (softer recoil), but the Lahti is much more plentiful - they were selling for $99.00 when first introduced into this country way back in the mid to late '50's, I believe - I used to see ads for these in gun magazines. Thanks to the dastardly "GCA '68", those are no more - except for the few that are already here. - JY

Reason: clarification of a point
Trex 0770 & Captain Eddie - I know what ya mean - living in "The People's Republic of Kalifornia", life is tough. I went to school and got my degree at Northrop University in Inglewood (LA). I lived and flew airplanes commercially out of Monterey, Calif; for over 6 years, while living in Pacific Grove. Fortunately, we here in Washington - while the state is largely run by the "Demoncrats" - we have, as part of our state constitution and RCW's ("Revised Code of Washington"), the RIGHT to own and possess firearms. In fact, the State RCW's up here state: "...so long as one meets the FEDERAL conditions for firearms ownership, one CANNOT be turned down for firearms ownership or concealed pistol license issue..." It pisses the libs off something fierce, but oh well and T/S as they say...!!! - JY ![]() ![]()

coldupnorth - No, not my summer house (I wish I had one of those... - HA!) - just my modest home here in Tacoma, WA. Yes, I've got a few nice toys - both long arms and handguns as well. My favorite handgun is the Para Ordnance (carbon-steel frame) P-14 hi-cap .45ACP - 15 in the mag & one in the chamber - I carry it concealed in a Galco ("Miami Classic") shoulder rig with a matching Para Ord (also, carbon-steel frame) P-10 "Limited" on the other side; along with two extra 15-round mags. You can never be "over-armed" around here... While I live in a nice section of town, there's enough hoodlums around these parts (again, thanks to the friggin' libs in this state) to "make life real interesting...!!". Listen, you send me your email address, I'll send you (via a large-file sender - it's free of charge!!) via "sendthisfile.com" the Barrett M82A1 .50BMG Light-Fifty factory demonstration video (about 100 megs in size) they gave me back in 1988 when I bought my second Barrett .50 - the one you see in my photos now. My first one was a very early model - it had a non-fluted barrel and weighed a ton. It also was MUCH more finicky on ammo type (bullet nose ogive - it would feed some types, but not others) so I finally got rid of it - a local police agency bought it from me - dunno if they ever had a need to use it, though. Ronnie Barrett personally sent me the video (VHS tape - I had a friend with the equipment convert it to a DVD) normally reserved for dealers and distributors - a nice touch!! I've got it on my computer - I'll send it to you if you'd like - just email me at JBY53@HARBORNET.COM and I'll send it to you or anyone else who wants a copy. It's just a tiny bit "choppy" in places (not the smoothest conversion I've seen, but oh well...), but not so bad that you can't tell what's going on or what's being said. Let me know!! - JY

trex0770 - No prob - I can't send you your very own Barrett .50BMG heavy rifle; but I CAN send you the next best thing - if you'd like, I can send you the Barrett M82A1 .50BMG "Light-Fifty" heavy rifle factory demonstration video (about 100 megs in size, I believe). Ronnie Barrett sent this to me back in 1988 when I ordered my second Barrett .50BMG rifle - my first one weighed a ton (it had a non-fluted barrel & either a 6 or 8-port "harmonica" type muzzle brake) and was VERY finicky on ammo type - some bullet nose ogives would feed properly - some wouldn't. Ronnie Barrett sent it to me as a sort of "conciliatory" gift for the problems I had with my first one - this is a video (converted over from the original VHS tape - a tiny bit "choppy", but still very viewable and understandable) that was ONLY sent to dealers and distributors - a strict factory policy! It arrived in the mail one day - right out of the blue, so-to-speak!! Quite an interesting piece. If you're interested, let me know and I'll send it you to you via a "large file sender". It's free of charge - but you must download and watch or save it to your computer within three (3) days or it disappears from the sender's computer and I'll have to re-send it. The sender is "sendthisfile.com", so when you get the link to download (I have to upload the file to them), you'll know who it's from and not delete it thinking it's spam or some such thing. Let me know - you can email me at: JBY53@HARBORNET.COM - Cheers - JY
