Re: Unusual Luftwaffe Eastern Front Fighter Schemes

Effectiveness to the wind, but I do like the paint scheme on the bottom center Matchbox Bf 109. Center Bf 109 paint scheme looks pretty sharp too.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Unusual Luftwaffe Eastern Front Fighter Schemes

The BF-109 on the bottom of the picture ( "red 29" ) has such an effective disruptive profile ( white squiggles over the standard fighter scheme ) that my digital camera has trouble focusing on it. I also like your second choice---the BF-109 with sand and two greens---- as well as the FW-190 in roughly the same camouflage.

You do some great free hand work. My hand is not as steady and I have to resort to using and airbrush.

Another nice grouping for a photo. Just how many models do you have? They seem never ending.

At first, I bought diecast models in multiples-----sometimes 5-6 examples of the same plane---so I could do as many repaints as I chose. This was especially true of planes with numerous schemes like the BF-109, FW-190 and Zero, and even the IXO Oscar or Model Power's Fiat CR 42 and I-16. Over the past several years, however, I have cut back significantly. Still. I have about 400 diecast models in various display cabinets with twice as many stored away in several large closets or my "bin", which happens to be in the attic.
