Re: My Matcbbox Collection: Part 1

Neat selection of Matchbox planes you have there. I only have eight of them and only one in the picture above. Shame they discontinued the series because they are pretty nice models.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: My Matcbbox Collection: Part 1

My diecast addiction started with Matchbox models, but I sold my entire collection (I had them all) in one fell swoop about two years ago. To be honest, however nice they were, I don’t miss ‘em. It boiled down to their landing gear (lack of). I just happen to prefer extended struts.

Still, Matchbox made some real honeys.

Re: My Matcbbox Collection: Part 1

MB really did think about what they were doing when they put out this line of diecast. I'm sure a bunch of collectors cut their teeth on these inexpensive models from Target stores.

Passed up a few at Target thinking that they would continue to be produced. I wish I had picked up more when they were still cheap and sitting on the shelf at Target.

The big one is an old master bedroom about 15' x 12". Here are some pics.
