SpecCast Corsair Flightline

Last edited by HotTrap429 : 04-23-2008 at 01:21 AM.
Several months ago, Pappy B posted a slideshow he had created in a HobbyMaster thread. In the show were a couple of pictures of two of his SpecCast 1/48 scale Corsair diecast banks. Being a lover of this plane, I was intrigued and so I went out and purchased one off ebay. I know this is irrational, but I love these diecast banks a lot. They aren't really models as a FM or HobbyMaster plane is, but for the money, they give me lots of joy which what this hobby is all about anyways. Now a few months later, I've got 8 of these planes in my collection with one more paid for and on the way. I took some time yesterday and snapped a few pictures of 5 of them.

Here they are in a flightline.

An overhead view.

F4U-1D, Naval Reserve Squadron - Oakland

F4U-1D Naval Reserve Squadron - Minneapolis

F4U-4 VMFA-323 (Sorry Pappy, but once I saw yours I JUST had to get one too!)

F4U-1 VF-17

And the crown jewel in my collection: a Goodyear FG-1 in the colors of the Goodyear Air Racing Team from the Reno Air Races

Re: SpecCast Corsair Flightline

These are really great looking Corsairs..I also have almost every Corsair made by SpecCast..When these first came out they were the best looking diecast planes at the time.
Only little flaws they had hollowed the wings on all their planes for some reason and didn't put on the antenna mast and the the gun ports of course.
Now days you can get these for a good price on the bay.
Great pictures too and thanks for posting these Corsairs...The Goodyear FG-1 bird is a sweet..

Re: SpecCast Corsair Flightline

The Goodyear racer makes for one nice looking model. I remember seeing it in the West-Tex Collectible catalogue (They dissappeared over the years too).

Fargan nice. I also own two, the polka dot cowling one and a Naval Reserve bird. The finish is a perfect dark glossy blue, the canopy is fantastic and the shape superb. If they'd only taken care fo the lower wing as Starman mentioned, these planes would be in my general collection. Love it.

Wow, never seen that racer before... cool. These are still my favorite Corsairs from anyone, believe it or not -- and that Big Hog is one of the best. Can't go wrong with the ebay deals on these of late, either. Nice snags and pics.

There was a SpecCast GoodYear corsair a few weeks back on ebay and it was his last one.

Re: SpecCast Corsair Flightline

SpecCast is rather random on the scale, however the Corsair is 1/48. I have the Oakland Reserve.
