What are your thoughts on the Forces of Valor B-25? How does it compare to your "Crabb 2nd" by Corgi?

Great looking selection of B-25s. I have yet to add one to my collection, any suggestions between Corgi & FOV models.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Chairman,
Last fall I did a review of the Forces of Valor B-25. I did not have the "Crabb 2nd" B-25 by Corgi, but I did do a comparison with Corgi's "Heavenly Body" B-25. I also included some side-by-side pictures. If you look in the "Forces of Valor" section, I'm sure you'll find the review. In short, the FoV B-25 is no where as nice a plane as a Corgi B-25. Corgi's 1/72 offering goes for around $100.00 while FoV's B-25 can be bought for around $50. Is there a difference in overall quality? Yes! But is the FoV offering such a bad model that you should never consider it? No. It's still a pretty good plane and I have (and continue to) recommend it.

Although I have noted many complaints about the FOV B-25, aside from the rubber guns and pitot head plus some OD overspray on the undersides ---both easily corrected---I consider this to be a worthwhile addition to my collection. The level of detail is a close match to Corgi and those awful screw holes one sees on FOV's fighter planes and JU-87s are absent. I buy from both lines, depending on scheme and Pacific strafers, like the FOV model, are among my favorites.

Assuming that you are not limited to a single plane, I would recommend Corgi's Bats Out Of Hell ( AA35303 )---I would have preferred an OD/gray finish on this one rather than natural metal---but if that isn't available, the strafer in my picture isn't bad. I'd also take a look at the Tokyo raider from Corgi ( AA35302 ). I understand that the Tokyo raider and Bats Out Of Hell are pretty tough to find, these days, In which case, I would take a gamble on the FOV bird.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like Corgi is the way to go.

Chairman, I've got both and for the price you can't go wrong with the FOV. Now having said that, Corgi makes an awesome B-25. The best, IMHO, being the Bats Outta Hell. I also like the Crabb, Lassie (Flightline Series), Heavenly Body (still cheap on Ebay) and the RAF (Invasion Stripes) version. Oh-7 would've been nice but the streaks look like poop stains on the ones I've seen in person so I passed.

Anyway, what the heck are you waiting for? Go get one!

Re: Some Of My B-25s Out To Punish The Axis

Thanks for the info. I've already picked up "Heavenly Body", the invasion striped RAF version & "Crabb 2nd". Still looking for "Bats Outa Hell".

I'll skip the FoV version and maybe just pick up the B-26 - it is of a lot of interest to me because I built a 1:72 model of it when I was a kid.

The FOV B-26 is good too. Only wish the top turret wasn't so pushed down. Maybe there's a way to prop it up some? Not enough of a problem to discourage one from buying it though!
