Re: Most Expensive Model

The most expensive model I owe is a 1:200 Herpa Premium A300 in American Airlines livery.
It cost me $360.00 to get it. A buddy of mine got it for me while visiting Germany.
The model features, chrome finish, see through cockpit & cabin windows, extreme details (aerials/antennas/markings...etc...) rotating engine fans, rubber rotating landing gear and steering nose gear.
Check out these photo's I had posted on DAC forum...Enjoy...

This plane has seriously gotten me interested in starting a 1:200 Civie collection! How do the non-premium Herpa 200's ($40-$80 ones) compare to inflight 200?

Re: Most Expensive Model

Well, right now my most expensive model is a 1:18 scale P-40 Flying Tiger autographed by the recently deceased "Tex" Hill, estimated around $500.00. Real nice and down to earth guy.

In a word, PRICELESS.

Re: Most Expensive Model

So guys, here are some pics of my last two remaining Herpa Premium 1/200 models.
1. Boeing 737-300 Reutlingen T/S D-ABXT
2. Boeing 747-400 Hannover T/S D-ABVK with special EXPO 2000 paint job
The 747 even comes with a pilot figure

Christian, those models are so nice, you'll end up steering some of this Forum "into the Dark-side" LOL !

Half bad! Captain, the Hurricane HAC is a little cracker, beautful even, probably the best Hurri that Corgi made.
The blue scheme on the Spit is a winner too.

I think this is the intention of this forum!

But you are right, these ones are great,Highly detailed, precise modelleling.
During the time when the 747 flew with this Expo marking she was in Frankfurt quite often for routine maintenance so I always used to walk over to the hangar to take a look and compare the real one with the model back home.

If you like these Premium Series, check out ebay.de, you will find some.

Re: Most Expensive Model

This plane has seriously gotten me interested in starting a 1:200 Civie collection! How do the non-premium Herpa 200's ($40-$80 ones) compare to inflight 200?

The Non Premium plastic models from Herpa are lacking details and personally I do not like them.
Some of the Herpa diecast are good (L1049, Convair 440, ATR42 & 72, Do 328)
Inflight200 models are more superior to the Herpa plastic (non premium).
Herpa Premium are made out of plastic and are the best and superior in every aspect. That comes with a hefty price tag.
If you want to start a 1:200 scale diecast or plastic airliners collection, this is my opinion in comparing details/accurracy:
  • 1st Herpa Premiums (plastic)
  • 2nd Inflight200 (diecast)
  • 3rd Gemini 200 (diecast)
  • 4th Phoenix Models (diecast)
  • 5th Herpa Non Premium (plastic & diecast)
  • 6th Hogan Wings (plastic)
  • 7th Skymarks
Good luck...

I like everything that flies... except flies...
