Re: Most Expensive Model

I recently paid about £135 for a PO-S delivered from the U.K.

The end all be all Lancaster was silly expensive and about $40 more than I should have paid.

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.

Thats not much more than I paid for mine.It took 2 yrs of trying before I finally got one.Either I didn't have the funds or they just weren't on the bay.If they were I kept being out bid.In the end,out of want and frustration, I put a max bid of 180 and got it for 115 .One thing is for sure I will never part with it...

Thanks MkV! That does help some. I'll never part with mine either. The guy I bought it from,it was his only model and he wasn't attached to it in the least.

WOnder how many others there are stashed away in British closets?

Re: Most Expensive Model

It kinda reminds me of my Gearbox Sopwith Pup, mostly due to the overly thick rigging.

Why I bought it I don't really know. There it sat, forlornly on a hobby store self with no box, its tail broken off, the prop bent an angle, the pilot figure minus part of his little head, etc. I guess I took pity on it. Perhaps, if I get the time, I'll replace that rigging with thin brass rods. So many things to do----so little time.

Post Re: Most Expensive Model

I do hope no one will be offended by trams & buses appearing on this thread but these are my most expensive models @ £400 each they are built to order in Russia by the St-Petersburg Tram Company.
The models are made of resin & are to 1:43 scale particular route & fleet numbers can be specified when ordering, anyone interested in the old types of US trams should checkout the web site
The trolleybus is a 1940 London Transport Leyland K3-class Trolleybus (1672-1696 series) - post war livery. & the tram a London Transport Class UCC Feltham - 1946-49 livery.

Re: Most Expensive Model

My most expensive to date would have to be MoM collector's edition set, numbered 600 and flown on board HAC's Hurricane during its epic flight together with the Spitfire to Malta in September 2005....signed by veterans during that year's edition of the local airshow and later auctioned, unclaimed and then ebayed.....fortunately returning to Malta

bought around two years ago and cost about $500 at the time

That is awesome! Well done! This is by far my favorite commission or set, for that matter -- jsut got the DVD and it is very well done, too, really completes the package.

The set was auctioned and the winning bidder didn't claim it?
