Re: My B-26s--Large and Small

Great looking close up shots!

Thanks, guys.

As you can perhaps see, this particular casting was not as successful as others. The canopy for the pilots' station came out rather rough as did other parts of the fuselage. Also, my detailing skills at the time, were not what they are today, so this isn't one of by best efforts. In other castings, we were able to depict the engines more realistically, often including quite a bit of detail. This model has nothing more than slightly indented flat surfaces where the engines would be. Anyway, this was an interesting phase and I learned a great deal from it.

Yep, but you are the only one that has one. Didn't you do make these aircraft quite a few years back?

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Yes. Most of my plastic moldings were made between 1994 and 1999. As you can see, I was influenced by my experience with ID models years earlier, so I depicted the planes as in flight, without props. From time to time I update one of these replicas by adding props taken from a kit. But that's about it.

You achieved some mighty nice looking results with your own molds and a really nice selection of aircraft. Kind of wish some of the companies out there would follow along those lines.

Re: My B-26s--Large and Small

Just curious, but how many of these resin models do you have in your collection?

Re: My B-26s--Large and Small

Epz' did you use the Airfix-model's markings (?) on your resin-cast.... as the later issue Airfix B.26 also came with the 386th Bomb-Group's "Yankee-Guerilla".

(the original release in 1974 was "Mild & Bitter" (or) "Dee-Feater")

BTW, there are quite a few surviving actual pix of "Yankee Guerilla".

A mate & I visited Great-Dunmow (her home base) back in 1994 & took pix.

Heavily overgrown (main-runway) though a few buildings still remain.

On a later trip (without me there), my mate Gary found the transit-nose-plug from a 500lb bomb (which had lain for almost 50 years) adjacent to the hardstands !!!!!!!

I don't have an exact count, however, I think that over 100 planes were eventually molded in this manner.

As I recall, the decals did come from an Airfix kit, which I bought early on---about 1995.
