Luftwaffe Planes I'd Trade Plastic For Diecast

I wonder how long before these come in metal?

Re: Luftwaffe Planes I'd Trade Plastic For Diecast

I would like to have each one of those in diecast. It kind of make you wonder why the Me 210/410 and any of the Dorniers have not already been produced in diecast. Shoot if Corgi did the Lysander, not to big of a stretch to think they could produce the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch too. Each one of the aircraft you have there would make for an interesting diecast model, kind of makes wonder why the diecast companies ignore aircraft like this. Is this an overall indication that the scope of interest amongst diecast collectors is fairly narrow? You have a broad selection of United States, British, German (To a lesser degree) and small selection of Japanese aircraft. Italian, Soviet, Polish, and French aircraft have (With the exception of IXO) largely been ignored. On the model building side of the isle the scope of available aircraft is quite diverse with regards to nationalities represented, but far from being so on the diecast side of the isle. Currently there are over 139 different diecast P-51 models that have been produced, but not one of these gems you have in the picture above.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

I often wonder if the diecast Manf. KNOW they are selling to collectors. Corgi for one must think if the average joe doesn't know about the plane, it's not worth making. I mean if you asked an average everyday American Joe, he would probably mention the P51 and B17. This is were I think Corgi has said "ya know we can sell the hell out of X" where X would be the popular WW2 bird of the region. Diecast Manf. must refocus on the hobby! What is more important to the collector-having 400 109s (ok bad example I will take them all ..lol) or 4-5 different aircraft. This leads me to believe these Exec. are not or were not collectors. These companys are NOT in-tune with their customers (with the exception being HM which ROCKS!).

Sooner or later, collectors will get sick of the same planes. I love German birds, but I have become more selective. I now look for birds flown by famous Aces. I don't need another plain jane 109!

Great choices! Personally, I'd walk a long way for a diecast Do-217E (1/72nd). Very nice model Epapazian!

Excellent choices, Ed! The Arado with floaters is what I most covet in 1/48th diecast form!

In 1/72nd scale the selection of Bf 109s E,F, and G models is still not that great. Combining Corgi, Dragon and Gemini Aces you still come up with just over 30 different models. Corgi makes right at 30 P-51Ds just by themselves. Funny thing, but Easy Model offers some more diverse paint schemes on some of their 109s models than the more mainstream diecast producers.

I have a few of these in plastic myself and I don't think you would ever see the AR-196, FW-189, Me-210/410 in diecast unless Altaya makes one. The Do-17/217 maybe by another company besides Altaya. I would love to see each of these in diecast in 1/72 scale for sure.

I like the Ar-196 too and have a 1/50th scale ID model of one.

CC, just curious...how much would a model like that bring in - in today's market? TY.

I have seen one in worse shape go for $180.00, but I got lucky on this one and paid much less.
