Great looking group of P-40s, and a nice selection too.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: P-40s--and Others

Very nice. Co-incidentally, I am about to unpack my latest P-40, FM/Armour with the skull. A fitting addition to my Hawks. Thanks for the nice pics.

Yes, Starman and Bluenoser, I do have tastes that extend to beautiful Spitfires and the ever reliable P-40. I must make room for these. (And there is always a bit of room for a few Jugs, like Daring Dottie and Big Ass Bird--and my Saucy Suzy.)

BUT: You should see my newest [EI] Bluenoser: Patty Ann II--once I figured out how to put it together.

Blue skies!

Re: Another Gaggle; This Time It's P-40s

I wonder who you mean Epapazian?

You have a great cross section of P40s there, now that is a collection to be proud of.

The P40 on the back row, right side grabbed my attention, is this one a repaint? It seems to have a Matchbox stand.
It looks like a P40 of the 80th Fighter Group. (plenty of Brit soldiers were thankful to those guys for their help during the Burma campaign).

I have never seen a 1/72 scale model of that one.
I have had a few attempts at picking up one of FMs 1/48 scale off ebay but no luck "yet".

Big thank you for posting those Epapazian.

God Bless America.

Re: Another Gaggle; This Time It's P-40s

Looks like you're the guy, Jim.

Yes, the plane you mentioned is a repaint of a Matchbox P-40E. I've always liked the markings of the 80th fighter group which flew P-40Ns in 1944 in India. I happened to have a decal sheet with that skull emblem so I cheated and placed it on my P-40E, instead. I hope that a reputable diecast marketer gives us one of these birds. All we've got, currently, is a rather inadequate IXO, which I have so far refrained from buying.

You did a nice job on that one for sure, the IXO P40 is not one I would put anywhere near top of the list of must haves although I admit to buying one.
I hope I am wrong but , because there are plenty of P40s put out by various makers I think this may deter manufacturers making any more versions.
There is definately a need for more Bs and Ns.

I had hoped Dragon would make us a nice B or N but no luck.
I would be happy if FOV would do another scheme, their B/C mold was not too bad.

Anyway as usual I digress, many thanks for the reply and also for showing us all your excellent displays.

Lets hope the old adage of all things come to those who wait, proves true!

Yep, the FOV P-40 does at least have some potential for some interesting paint schemes and they at least have a mold to work with.

Epapazian, you have an impressive collection! All your threads show off a truly remarkable collection. Like Jim, I love P-40s and I echo both you and Jim when you wish we would get a good version of the P-40N. Like you Epapazian, I custom or modify my IXO models where necessary. The P-40N isn't the most awful model to own once you give it a new coat of paint and some new markings.

After looking at your great repaint job on that IXO, I may have to find another sheet with the skull decal and have a go at one of these P-40Ns, myself. Thanks for the pictures.

Great stuff, you guys are amazing,
who would have thought an IXO could look so good.

I wish I had your skills, I am green with envy.
