Re: Another Gaggle; This Time It's P-40s

Great stuff, you guys are amazing,
who would have thought an IXO could look so good.

I wish I had your skills, I am green with envy.

I've recently started working on a 2nd IXO P-40N project. Yes it's true - I've got 2 of these! I'm painting it to be a P-40N-5 of the 8th FS / 49th FG flown by Capt. Richard J. Vodra out of New Guinea in 1943. It's got a white tail and black/white checker pattern on the rudder. Should look pretty good when done. I'll keep you posted. Here is the decal sheet instructions. My plane is the top one. The bottom plane is the skull head IXO I posted pictures of.

Re: Another Gaggle; This Time It's P-40s

I like the looks of that HotTrap, you are making me drool.

You could also do the mount of Lt Danny Moore, he painted his P40N much the same, ( he was in the 49th).

Edit,

I read up on this one and the story goes that he painted his P40 to match the tail of a Zero that gave his buddy Joe Littleton a hard time.
It was a challenge to the Zero pilot to come and have a try at him.
It does not mention wether the Zero pilot and Moore ever met up.

It just shows the fighting spirit of those P40 pilots and the faith they had in their planes.

God Bless America.
