New guy. My 1:72 warbirds collection...

I am relatively new to this site and to the diecast collecting hobby in general. I only began collecting 1:72 WWII warbirds last year and have pieced together a small but decent collection since then. My favorites are the Corgi planes, but I also have a few Hobby Masters and one Dragon. My goal was to chose a single example of each of the planes that interested me as I tried to put together a representative collection of warbirds. I generally tried to pick my favorite example of each model, but in some cases these were too hard to find or too expensive. I spent a lot of researching Tricatus' website, as well as that of the Diecast Ace in order to make my choices. A number of my planes have been purchased on eBay, but most come from either the Flying Mule or from Perry's.

Although I only recently started collecting, my collection is close to being complete. I don't have much more room, and I only want a few more planes. More than anything, I am waiting for some nice Japanese/Russian/Italian planes but will wait for somebody other than IXO to hopefully come out with something. The Japanese IXO planes have me really intrigued, but I have not seen any in person and am reluctant to pull the trigger. Other than that, I am waiting on a pre-ordered Corgi Typhoon (rocket-equipped), Corgi Beaufighter, and the Hobby Master Kate. I am also considering a Wellington and a JU-88. After that, I believe I am done, at least with the current models. Again, I would like to eventually add some Japanese/Russian/Italian planes down the road should any really nice ones go into production.

Here is my collection so far:

AA32605 Avro Lancaster Mynarski
AA37202 Handley-Page Halifax Barton

Re: New guy's growing 1:72 collection...

Thats an awesone collection you have. I have also been collecting for about a year and only collect 1/72 WWII planes. I Also buy only one example of each type of plane for my collection. When I choose a plane I go by what I personly think of when I think of that plane. For example, when choosing a P-47 to buy, I think of a Razorback type, so thats what I got. But also I go by color scheme too, so for the P-47 I am used to a green or sliver color scheme. But I couldn't decide what to get so I got the green/silver "Daring Dottie III" as a compromise. Sometimes I can't be that picky and I have to settle for what is available, like airplanes that IXO only makes. Actually only once have I bought a plane twice because it was a P-39 Airacobra and IXO came out with a 1/72 first, and then when Hobby Master came out with one I just had to get that one to replace the IXO. Also most of the planes I have purchased have come from the Flying Mule. Here's a list of what planes I have so far in order as I got them. And By the way, you should get some of the Japanese IXO planes. They are pretty good for being an IXO models.

P-40 Tomahawk (Forces of Valor (Pearl Harbor))

Fellas fellas.....

You are NOT, I repeat NOT allowed to post lists without photos!

Page 64 Article 17 Section C clearly states that:

All new collectors who indicate they would like to "share their collections" must also post pictures so fellow members can drool.

Please make the appropriate corrections.

I wanna see!

Ledfut, you are dangerously low on 1/72 aircraft. I suggest you make a bulk purchase immediately.
