New SpecCast Additions

Recently had a chance to pick these up at a good price - under $20.00 each. Though not up to the same quality as FM or HobbyMaster's larger scale models, I'm really happy to have these join my collection. Since I really only collect 1/72 scale, having these was a great change of pace. Love the detail and feel of the larger size so much that I'm hoping to pick up a few more. Now if I could only find room to display them.

Re: New SpecCast Additions

Nice pickups HotTrap! Glad to see I'm not the only Spec fan remaining around here (Though I think there's one or two more of us...)

You can make a killing on these right now on the 'bay... picking up even the rare stuff for cheaps. I really like the P-40, P-38, and Corsair -- hadn't seen that three-tone Corsair before either, looks nice. (I actually like the Speccast Corsair the best for the 1:48 scale range of metal models, though callin' SC models may not be the right term.

I don't have room to display my Spec collection and don't know if I ever will, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it either -- partly because I paid $40 or so for most of 'em 'back in the day" and would lose my shirt, so to speak, but mostly because I still like 'em.

I picked up these two recently myself on the 'bay for about $11 each...

Re: New SpecCast Additions

I remember when Specast was kind of popular. I have two of their Corsairs and one of their P-40s, but do any of you have any of the Gearbox WWII models. The Gearbox ones were crude but colorful, well it least some were colorful.

I actually just gave several Gearbox models to goodwill when we packed for the move... for the prices they were going for on the bay I couldn''t see taking the time to sell 'em.. and I just had to get rid of 'em fast. When I bought 'em I thought they were cool (late 90's) but they didn't age well for me. I should have offered 'em up here for the cost of shipping... I think I may have one left, if so I'll offer it up... .

I think these go their start in the mid to early 1990s.

I only picked up a couple Gearbox models, but like you said, at the time they looked pretty good.
