Re: my humble collection

hi mate, ive gotta say this is seriously freeky but your the 2nd person from newcastle ive met on here today, this is a US forum and theres 3 brits that live in the same city that dont know each other, you, me and simonclarke1034, thats pretty crazy,

anyway, i bought all of the figures and vehicles from ebay, just search "fujimi carrier deck crew" and "hasegawa usaf ground crew" i only paid a fiver for each set including delivery,

as for where to buy witty stuff, im not the best person to ask really, i dont own any witty planes and i buy my planes either from ebay or from modelzone in the Metrocentre, they stock Century, Dragon and Hobbymaster as well as corgi and FM, when buying online from shops i have used antics online in the past, they were pretty good but delivery took a week on the 2 occasions i bought from them and they were pretty useless when i spoke to them on the phone, suffice to say ive stopped using them, aviation retail direct seems like a very good site and i intend to use them in the near future,

regards..........kwiky

Hi Kwiky, thanks for ur answer. I'm only been in modelzone store in Monument, they looks like have poor range of diecast model, maybe in metrocentre is better, I'll go to see it soon. Normally i bought some model from ebay as well, but have some model I cannot found in ebay. I found some website have all range air-carft from all brands, i've just order some from them, maybe u need it:

Collector's AIrcraft Models - Aircraft models and helicopter models for the aviation business plus all makes for collectors, Corgi Classics, Herpa Wings, Gemini Jets, Inflight, Hobby Masters and more

EASTLEIGH MODEL SUPPLIES | DIE CAST MODEL RETAILER

Ur new CW A7 looks very nice, that's right choice. Thanks for sharing!

Re: my humble collection

In regard to the ladders used on A-10's, to the best of my knowledge there are no removable ones for this aircraft. The "emergency" ladders that stow into the fuselage on the left side of the cockpit are used for normal access, at least that was the case when I worked on them. I don't think I've ever seen a pic of a removable ladder for an A-10.

Re: my humble collection

interesting, thanks for the info, the ladder on my display is infact a maintenace platform, not an access ladder, the pilot has boarded the plane using the ladder seen in your pic and while he does his preflight checks and starts the aircraft the young female trainee member of the ground crew closes and locks the emergancy ladder access panel, she is overwatched by her superior officer.

or thats how its happening in my imaginary model world

win_arc, thanks for them links, i'll be sure to check those out

You don't need a maintenance platform to do that. It's done easily from the ground. With a pilot already in the cockpit and presumably close to taxiing out, there really shouldn't be any maintenance stands near the aircraft. The most realistic thing would be to have the crew chief standing to the left front of the aircraft, giving hand signals.
BTW, I think your displays are awesome.

Re: my humble collection

Kwiky,

Fair play your displays are outstanding. Having your aircraft displayed with the carrier decks really sets the collection apart.

What I would really like to see from you now, is WW2 aircraft with airfield displays. AA guns, Craters, Vehicles, etc....

Cheers,
DV

Re: my humble collection

91ken, sorry mate i couldnt resist making up that story, i was just kidding, what i should of just pointed out was that i just threw that display together for the pic, if you look on the page before this one you'll see that the A10 doesnt have the maintanence platform anymore, (pic with f-14 about to launch, look at the top of the pic) that now sits next to a Jaguar, cos the jaguar looked pretty boring wothout lots of ordanance,

anyway, thanks for the info, if i need anymore advice about A-10's i certainly know where to come...thanks

*edit, here's the pic

Draken Vect. i just cant seeem to like WW2 planes, as much as i try i cant, there small, slow, and nowhere near noisy enough, i yawn my way through the whole Battle Of Britain memorial flight every year at the sunderland airshow, its a shame as well because i could fit alot of them on my shelves compared to the amount of jets i can get on there,

maybe one day eh?

That's fair enough, everyone will have different taste.

But you got to admit, the sound of a spit flying over at full chat is legendary.
