Re: Besides diecast aircraft, what else do you collect?

Osprey Aces books.
WWII books esp. BOB RAF aces
Some aviation art but just the 16x20 or smaller prints

WWII movies of all kinds.

Not too carried away with this stuff but I do have a nice little library.

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

Re: Besides diecast aircraft, what else do you collect?

Majority of my collections are all pretty much military aviation related: Books, CDs, DVD Documentaries and movie titles which at last count approaching close to 1500, 1/6 scale fully detailed model figures of aviators from all eras including foreign flyers (some of these pilots are custom made by me), a few 1:1 US and Soviet jet helmets and oxygen masks and pilot gear and equipment etc.

I also have a huge Star Trek/Star Wars items from ships, figures, statues, books, props; my motorsports collection ranges from F1, Indy and NASCAR, Corvettes, Mustangs and movie cars as well. Plastic model airplanes totalling 500+ kits (unbuilt) from the 60s,70s and 80s that hopefully someday I'll start selling.

Re: Besides diecast aircraft, what else do you collect?

I used to have over 150 1/64 scale semis and a huge collection of Mark Martin stock cars in all sizes. Both of those collections have been sold off, I'm sure at a significant financial loss. After 22 years of driving a truck I've pretty much lost my fascination with trucks and NASCAR has priced and politally corrected themselves out of interest to me.

I still have a collection of several hundred Hot Wheels cars, been collecting those since I was a little kid. I still think they are the coolest toy on the planet for under a buck!

Of course there is my airplane collection. All United States Military, the only exception being one British Spitfire.

But my favorite thing to collect is money. Sadly though, it's my smallest collection as it seems to be extremely difficult to acquire...

Re: Besides diecast aircraft, what else do you collect?

Actively collecting 1/72 armor and 1/700 submarines.
Used to collect 1/18 scale and 1/6 scale, but pretty much completely out of both.
Also collect 1/2400 scale models for a Star Trek based game called Star Fleet Battles that has been since 1979.

missile and spaceflight photos but mostly unmanned and military
spaceflight history books and DVD

All this costs a $$$ fortune of course but what to do? I am hooked!

Re: Besides diecast aircraft, what else do you collect?

Before I started collecting diecast, I was collecting guns. I still have a lot of interest in them but I kind of shifted my budget to diecast. I'm sure that when the warm weather's going to be at our door (around here it's not before july) I'll switch back to guns.

I guess this is my winter hobby...
