Re: DiecastAce Field Back in Biz...

Pappy, I like the Detolf, with one caveat. The sides all have slight gaps from the frame so they have a greater exposure to dust. That is the main reason I have never purchased one. Otherwise, they are ideal because of shape, size and amount of glass.

You hit the nail on the head when it comes to wall space: art or cabinets. I have a few framed prints and they tend to eat up the space.

Yeah, I had a Detolf in my old office but sold it to my local hangar pal Black6 as I didn't want to try moving the sucker.... I'd used it for quite a while and while you are right about the gaps, I didn't find the dust creep to be too bad. A 100% enclosed option would be better though.

Re: DiecastAce Field Back in Biz...

Thanks fellas -- I was trusting you to side with me on the "over-doing it" issue... so far you don't disappoint

Hadn't seen this cabinet at ikea before either...

IKEA | Cabinets & sideboards | Display cabinets | BIBY | Glass-door cabinet

Nice, too, but pricey...

I see there is a copy of IL2: 1946 in there. You have good tastes in past-times besides diecast.

Don't do what BDE tells you to do. Do what BDE would want you to do.

Me gusta mucho Pappy! That Black Aces F-14 stands out. You have a bit of everything like me. WWI through modern day, though I didn't see any C1 WWI stuff out....

I think you have some

Wish I had some daylight like that in my room. Great pictures!

Thanks Parsig!

No, no WWI stuff on display -- I a Gearbox model and a Model Power Red Baron somewhere... but I haven't dived into that end of the pool yet! The price of the C1 stuff, and the fact that I simply am not as interested in that era at least now anyways, has kept me away... (I do have several C1 WWII models...)

Yeah, the light is great in the room -- except when I'm trying to get work done on the computer that is...

One of my day jobs has been reviewing PC games for the past 10 years -- flight sims have always been my favs... I have an old machine I keep just because it will run European Air War (most XP rigs will not...)

Thanks Ikonos -- it's a Billy cabinet from Ikea (with added optional glass shelves and doors).

Re: DiecastAce Field Back in Biz...

That B-17 and B-52 are right in size. At the 2006 Barksdale Airshow they had a salute to Boeing and a B-17 and B-52 flew in formation for a couple passes. There is a tape on ASB(Air Show Buzz © - Get the latest news on Air Shows & Aviation), just look it up. I think the B-29 was suppoed to be there, but Fifi is grounded as far as I know.
