Re: A Decent BF-110, Except For One Error

Not obvious to my old eyes but are the inboard exhausts on the model upside down?

The exhausts on this model were very poorly molded so it's anyone's guess. However that's not my blunder. My mistake concerns something I added ( hint ).

Re: A Decent BF-110, Except For One Error

Could it be the mounting of the pitot tube appearing to be directly mounted to the leading edge of the wing? Mounting in diagrams I have seen show that mounting point was actually underneath the wing and angled forward.

Nope. Although you may be right on this, I don't count it as a great error. You are in the ballpark, however, in terms of general magnitude. Remember, this is one aspect of the model that IXO did more or less correctly.

Re: A Decent BF-110, Except For One Error

Could it be the position of the antenna mast appearing centered as apposed to being off slightly to the port side of the upper canopy?

This better be a "glaring" problem. If it's a groaner we will hunt you down and dust all your diecast until the little bits fall off.

I agree with Cruver! All the photos I've seen of the 110 has the antenna mast off-centered as opposed to your center mounted antenna. Break out the dusting cloths and air dusters!!!

At last! I knew you could find it Cruver. What still gets me is how I missed this in view of all of the books, pictures, etc. I had amassed on this plane before I detailed it.

Failing to offset the aerial mast to the left, in my opinion, was an inexcusable boner on my part.

My old models could really use some dusting, but unlike kit-makes, they don't fall apart when spruced up.

But you did properly apply the yellow band to the base of the antenna mast though. Now have to admit that was a real enjoyable challenge. I also have a better feeling for every square inch on my IXO Bf 110.
