Re: Armour Addict's collection (Major Update)

What a great collection you have AA! Makes me realize I have a ways to go collecting and displaying.

Thanks Trex!

I know how it feels having boxes stacked allover your place. I lived this way for quite some time.

But have patience, the end result pays off the waiting time.

Re: Armour Addict's collection (Major Update)

Some medals to display with my models. (collecting medals can be expensive, too!) Imagine what a MOH costs over here!AA

I've seen a MOH - AF version go for $2,500 from a militaria show a few years ago. Btw, I believe Federal laws prohibits buying medals in this country, but then I don't know enough about laws governing or prohibiting the sales of medals. There are too many "posers or wannabe's" who claim to have earned the honor of possesing such medals, and that's pretty sad!

Well, that must have been way before the Stolen Valor Act (18 U.S.C. § 704) protecting the MOH and since 2005 several other medals. Now if you'll even try to sell & trade the MOH in the US you'll go to prison for a year...

Over here one is not bound to the U.S.C hence I can collect US medals if I want to.

BTW a MOH + Tiffany Cross is currently on sale on ebay for a whopping $5250!!!

Regarding "posers or wannabe's", this is as sad as you said. I hope it comes across clear enough that I bought these medals and in now way whatsoever "earned" them.

My comment wasn't intended as a 'slight' on your medal collections, and hope you didn't interprit it as such. Btw, you need to add "Distinguished Flying Cross" medal to your collection!

Nah, I didn't take it that way. I just wanted to clarify that for the rest of the forum.

A DFC? You mean this one?

I am still after the Navy Cross, Air Force Cross and several others.
