Your top 3 diecast companies in your collection

As a collector of these fine diecast planes put out by many companies.
What are your top 3 diecast companies and why ?
This poll was a little tricky to do because you could do alot of mixing with the companies.
So i hope this works out.

Re: Your top 3 diecast companies in your collection

Eagles International-Their work with the P-51, and up coming T-6 has just been awsome. I can only hope that they will do a P-61 and TBF.

GMP-The P-51's and P-40's are amazing. I almost think I can smell avgas when I open the box.

Hobbymaster-for having the balls to listen to the collector, make great looking aircraft, and going into more than one scale.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

GMP has to be tops for me, well just look at those superb P40s very near diecast perfection.

Thats the easy part, how to chose the second and third place is the difficult one.

After much thought and being a fair minded person (well I think so ) I have to go with Corgi.
I complain about them often but with models like the Lanc, Cat, Swordfish and Gladiator they deserve to be placed in the top 3. (They also led the way for a long time).

Dragon comes third because their Mustangs and Tbolts are my favourites, very good and accurate detail, and I for one like the fiddly bits, they help to make the 1/72 scale more realistic.

Gemini and Hobbymaster are very close behind and could well overtake Corgi and Dragon very soon.

Carousel deserves a mention also but for now I will go with the above.

God Bless America.

Thumbs up Re: Your top 3 diecast companies in your collection

Boy, this a tough one since each manufacturer has one or two really good examples in its line-up. That said, I'd have to say that, overall and over the years, Corgi has done the best work. Look at the Fairey Swordfish, the Gladiator and the PBY, just to name three.
Hobby Master is doing fine work; I love their SBDs in 1:72 and the Brewster Buffalos in 1:48 are hard to top.
And then comes Dragon with it excellent issues, e.g., the P-51s and P-47s, but also carrying the "fiddy bits" baggage. My reaction is fiddy bits plus white glue plus some time equals a very fine model.
In the Honorable Mention category I'd definitely include Gemini, (they look like a winner), and Century Wings. They both need a better selection of issues in their mix, however.

# 1 - Corgi because I've got so many of them. Love the fact that they make the big bombers. Hate the fact their costs keep going up, while their quality and attention to important details is hit or miss.
# 2 - Hobby Master because not only do they listen to their customers (what a novel idea!), but they actually address issues and fix things.
# 3 - Gemini Aces - Love the detail, the metal props, and the working control surfaces. Just wish they'd do something new other than the "Big 3" they've been milking.

Re: Your top 3 diecast companies in your collection

This is a very interesting poll. I voted Corgi, Dragon, Gemini Aces in terms of available options. Hobby Master runs GA very close based on what is in fact in my collection. Surprisingly I have more IXOs a fillers than GA and HM at present. As I said, this is based what I've bought. I've just received the French Navy Hellcat by HM and I'm beginning to think that the panel lines need to be toned down some, so GA has the edge on HM. Most of my collection is still Corgi although I've diversified substantially in recent years.

Thanks Starman, not to worry as I had already voted before I even realised that Carousel 1 was missing and they're one of my favourite diecast manufacturers .
