WWII Aviation Gear

Just was wondering if any Model Hanger members might also collect WWII aviation gear besides die-cast planes like myself? My collecting started out with a Armour FW-190 and now I have two rooms full of die-cast planes, uniforms, parachutes, jackets, officers hats, and near 100 flight helmets. You name it, if it came from the days of WWII aviation I probably have it.
If anyone else has this sickness,, let me know maybe we could trade some things.

Re: WWII Aviation Gear

I used to have nearly a full set of WWII RAF Irvin gear & boots, but I sold it all off (except the helmet which I still display) to a museum in Belgium. Your collection sounds very interesting RockJock - can you post some pics for us?

Re: WWII Aviation Gear

I have an altimeter from a He111, a air pressure gauge from a Seahawk and a hydrolic pressure gauge possibly from a Mossie.
I stopped collect that stuff because it diverted funds away from my diecast collecting.

Re: WWII Aviation Gear

That be cool to see pictures...I have my uncle's full WWII Officers "Brown" uniform when he flew the P-51 Mustangs in the 8th USAAF.
I love the pilot crush caps they wore. back then..Plus there is also a Parachute ...But not sure where it came from since it's been in my family for ages.I'll have to get it out of the attic someday and snap a picture of it.

Re: WWII Aviation Gear

I do some WWII reenacting, which is mostly Army Infantry (30th ID - ETO, 25th ID - PTO). However, my love of planes is basically what got me started on all things military, so I started collecting some air corp stuff. So far I have a late war PTO/stateside set up, which I wore a bit for the Reading WWII weekend this past weekend. Here's a pic of me and a nice airplane.
