A brief moment of diecast splendor...

Okay, by now some of you have picked up on the fact that I'm moving, and am a bit frustrated by the whole "pack up your collection" aspect of it all -- particularly as my time frame to get packed is quite aggressive (to accomodate a renter for the house). More frustrating, the need to move cropped up after we "decided to stay put" for a while and I moved my office and collection into a new room in the house, and purchased dedicated display cabinets and built them, and filled them... Now, off we go to a new house, which while bigger, has my office moving into a smaller room with less dispaly space (darn you Murphy!).

Anyways, thought I'd post a few pics of my collection in its variouis stages of completion as I worked on fitting as many birds as possilbe on display without looking like a complete nut -- and failing

Many of you will recognize models that now sit in your hangars... thanks for helping thin out the air force a little bit. Got to say, I was a bit shocked at home many moving boxes I filled as I pulled all of my models out of the darkest corners of storage in the house... Going to have to do some more thinning out on the back end of the move, too I think.

But at least I had a few months of completely over-the-top indulgent display time!

Will see what I can do with the new space, but I think I'll be relegated to a single Detolf, the Billy, and maybe that wall-mounted CD/DVD cabinet.. which really ain't anything to complain about!

WOW Pappy. Nice collection. Glad to see that I have a few of the same ones you have. Makes me think I made the right decision in buying some of the ones I did.

Outstanding! I'm still looking for that two tone Grey camo Flanker from Gaincorp, and I see that you've found it.

Re: A brief moment of diecast splendor...

THanks all -- those pics are quick and dirty snaps I took before I got all just the way I wanted it.... unfortunately, I didn't take any of the truly finished display and now it's all packed up again! Even with the space, I was never able to get any of my speccast out, or most of my Corgi heavies, and most of my IXO, Matchbox, and Armour 1:100 never got out of their boxes. As I said, I was quite suprised to see how much of our storage space I was taking up -- these "one small box at a time" purchases sure do add up over a couple years My wife was a bit... surprised, too

I got so tired of boxing up planes I probably would have given you all some amazing deals if you knocked on the door.. "$5 for a Dambuster Lanc?, Sure Fly"

I even gave some away to Good Will -- my Gearbox collection, got rid of a Wildcat, couple of Hellcats, a couple Sopwith Pups, and another WWI bird I forget the name of (Airco something or other)... most of these I paid about $40-40 for in the late 1990s, but I couldn't be bothered to sell them on ebay for the $10 each they go for now.... so I gave 'em away

Re: A brief moment of diecast splendor...

It is interesting to see the size differences between the 1/72 and 1/48 versions.

Also interesting to see the IKEA CD case in use. I've been looking at one of them off an on for years but never bought it. Looks sharp.
