Welcome to the forum buddy. Get ready to spend more money. I have spent moree since becoming a member of this group for sure.

No kidding! I predicted this would happen to me in one of my first posts on the forum, but I didn't figure to what extent this would be true. Good thing I just got a pay raise...

Re: New Collector and new to site

Be careful with certain varieties of diecast. Some wheels-down or wheels-up models commonly have the gears or gear doors fall off.

But, for those, we have white glue (or, if you do not mind it being permanent, superglue).

Well, I've never heard of the white glue technique. I'll have to give it a shot.

Re: New Collector and new to site

I heartily recommend white glue. It doesn't mar the paint and is easy to remove if you make a mistake, or change your mind and want the gear in a different position later. I've also used in on my Dragon P-51 canopies, to keep them from falling off. Just a tiny bit on a few key point is all you need for that.

This white glue technique will be the salvation for my Dragon Petie 2nd. If I sneeze with moderate force, a part of it will fall off. Even if I am 10 feet away.

Cavtanker,
Elmers white glue works great. Just a drop or two, nothing heavy, and all your parts will hold fine.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: New Collector and new to site

Larry, the advice here is first-rate. I, too, started collecting this year and can't emphasize enough the importance of thinking through each addition and getting exactly the planes you want (or are available and match your wants reasonably). Your display area will start filling quickly and "Ah, room for 20 more" becomes "Damn, where am I gonna put these 1/32s I keep buying."
