Half of Checking...'s collection

I started collecting this January and, to my girlfriend's horror, have already just about filled two of Ikea's famous Detolf cases. I've decided to group my planes by nationality and color. I know that won't make sense to some, but hey I think it looks good. The final shelf (not shown) holds some Dragon and Corgi Luftwaffe birds and is waiting for Corgi to release its Ju-52s. I have a second home-away-from-home collection at the office that I haven't photographed yet.

Re: Half of Checking...'s collection

Welcome to the forum. Very nice collection, and an excellent second post. Very good progress on the collection too. I see that you already have a few "hard to find" items.

Very good indeed!

You have to admit that that Sentimental Journey B17 is mighty purty .

Nice collection man. Let's face it, sometimes we buy them because they look pretty.

Nice collection man. Let's face it, sometimes we buy them because they look pretty.

Thanks, and yeah, it's usually what catches my eye first and variety second. At first the agreement with the lady was one and only one case, so I was determined to avoid any duplicates, but as you can see that didn't last long. (Sticking to 1/72 didn't last either, as I have three of Corgi's 1/32 planes and two from the 1/144 line.) The other issue is being able to fit a maximum of six planes per shelf and that limits how I'm able to organize. Ideally, I'll go for theater and chronology when both space and the collection itself permit.

Cardinal: Sentimental Journey was the second plane I bought (the first was a FOV Corsair that I've since given to a coworker because that line stood out like a sore thumb next to the Dragons, Corgis, and HMs). I also have Bit O' Lace at the office and can't decide which I like more. : )

Also, I've loved looking at all of your collections over the past months--they've helped me make tough calls on what to get next many a time.

Welcome to the asylum, checking. Appears you've been a "lurker" for awhile(and that's fine), but glad you decided to join. Nice collection you've got there.

I have. Hey, accepting your addiction is the first step, right?

Re: Half of Checking...'s collection

Wow! Great collection and only since January? Superb, even if you started back in January, 2000!
