Did you build the cool F-111 and French Rafale fighter?

Very nice collection. Can you tell me more about the Arrow? I see you have a book on it too.

Re: FormerViperDriver Collection

Hey FVD,

nice setup on the FM/A F-4s!

And good to see that you finally got the NB-52. Nice model I have to admit.

Cheers,
AA

Thanks AA. You had a big role in the addition of the two new F-4s (Luftwaffe and Spangdahlem E model) and the NB-52. Thanks again!

Re: FormerViperDriver Collection

Well, a friend of mine who is an expert model builder (he even owned a model store around here for a while) built all the plastic kit models in my collection, including those two. I'm currently pondering which model I will give him next to do, but I'm leaning towards the Trumpeter 1/48 RA-5C Vigilante. The other leading candidates are the French Mirage IV or the Revell MiG-25.

Well, if you mean which model manufacturer came out with the model, I must admit that it has been a few years, and I don't have the box any more since it was retained by my model-building friend after he put it together. But if you are interested, I can ask him. I'm not sure that kit is still available, but in any event, be aware it was a vaccu-formed model, not injected plastic like most kits are, and it requires a lot of model building skills to get right. It does make for a very impressive model in 1/48.

The CF-105 Arrow itself was only built in the form of 5 prototypes, but it was one cool looking jet and promissed incredible performance with the planned production engines. It's amazing to think that at one time, not that far back really, Canada was able to design and fly such a machine (though not procure it for service, as it turned out). These days, this kind of stuff is unthinkable. Too bad in a way, for us aviation enthusiasts.

Wink Salut Ancienconducteurdevipère !

Years ago, I had built the only 1/48 injected kit of the CF105 Arrow. It was made by Hobbycraft (a Canadian brand I think...)

A very oldfashionned and crude kit. Turning it into a good model is beyong the reach of my modest modelling skills.

Their CF100 Cannuck wasn't better, and there ceased my association with Hobbycraft.

You are lucky FVD to have such a skilled and available friend.

Are you also planning to add the 1/48 B58 Hustler from Revell to your already massive collection ?

That one must be AWESOME !

Hey, Lagrenouille! In fact I have the Revell B-58, but still in the box waiting to be built. I also have the Monogram B-1B. But in 1/48 these are pretty huge (particularly the B-1. I saw Armour Addict's model of same in person...) so I'm waiting for now. I need a bigger room!

Another 1/48 model waiting to be built is the Hasegawa French Navy F-8 Crusader. Now that one, I think I might have it built in the not-too-distant future.
