Re: Kirk's Collection

I picked up another model this weekend at an antique shop around town.

Franklin Mint P-38 Jandina
Limited Edition

It came along with a Biography of Lt. General Jay Robbins and the patch above.

Wow! Nice catch!

It was specially produced for the Houston air show and is limited to 1500 pieces!

If the store has another one please PM me!

I believe it should about 22 victories according to his bio: http://www.af.mil/bios/bio.asp?bioID=6927
Here's a link showing his last P-38 "Jandina IV" - 22 victories : http://www.pacificwrecks.com/aircraf...andina_iv.html

The "Happy Budha" nose art for his aircraft propably gave him lots of luck!

Capn' Kirk, thats' a spiffy looking P-38 there! Nice score too!

Re: Kirk's Collection

Yes, very nice model of the P-38, Kaptin!

The descendants of that squadron, the 80th FS "Juvats" (they go by that name these days rather the more official "Headhunters"), are flying F-16s at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, these days. When I was there, I flew with the other (better ) squadron, the 35th FS "Pantons" ("Panthers" officially).
