Re: Ara's 1/48 birds

You have a nice looking collection going there. Now you need an Eagles P-51, and a Franklin Mint B-17. Very nice though.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Ara's 1/48 birds

Thanks MD. You are right, I am due for exactly those planes, hopefully soon. I haven't bought a diecast in 2 yrs. Maybe this Spring.

I am interesting in the EI Patty Ann, and a US or Swiss version of the B-17. I'm also itching for Flak Bait and a -5 Corsair by FM, the night fighter version.

I pulled my entire collection out of the basement just for this posting, the planes have never been all out at the same time.

Ei Mustang will not diappoint. The Flack bait B-26 is cool as well. And some do not like the FM B-17's, but I think they are cool.

Yeah, I am hearing great things about Eagles. And regarding FM's B-17, yes, I 've heard about problems. But I come from the "perfect" scale model world, and I can tell you many, many diecasts have problems. It doesn't bother me, these models cannot be perfect for the price point that will sell. So long as there are no mechanical/assembly flaws, I am very happy with FM's diecast planes.

However I will not buy certain ones due to Eagles and Carousel getting into the game. I will not get any FM Mustang. I like the B version better, and plus, Eagles really puts out a great item. I will not get an FM Fw 190 either, I am guessing C1 will go there.

I am a big US Navy guy and want the FM Dauntless in a major way. The version I want is OOP, but I'll get it when the opportunity is right. I am also looking forward to the day I can buy a Helldiver and Avenger. Regarding Wildcats, I am not sure which one is for me, FM's or C1's. It may come down to markings.

Re: Ara's 1/48 birds

I can tell you that the C1 Wildcat is great. I have two of them. As for the FM B-17's, I feel the same way. Which SBD are you looking for? I would aslo hope that someone will make a 1/48th Helldiver and Avenger.

Re: Ara's 1/48 birds

Hey MD, here's the SBD I enjoy the most. It shows up on ebay every once in awhile. FM has a really nice Dauntless mold so they should be doing early war stuff again (Jan - June 1942), maybe next year. And maybe they'll provide the closed canopy option, as well.
