Re: ChairmanMilo's Collection

Thats a superb collection very well displayed.

I think you should re- consider your decision about the GMP P40s, If possible try to get a look at one, I think the temptation may be more than you can resist.
Make room for one as a spectacular centerpiece for your collection.

In a word they are just awesome.

It's true, it's true. Jim convinced me to take the plunge a few months back and I do not regret it. Neville Duke's Kittyhawk is superb and my favorite. Get one Chairman!!! It'll quickly grow to two, then three...........and so on!!!

Just to further encourage you, GMP P 40s can be attained for below the new MSRP of a 1/72 Corgi P40, and they're much better!

Re: ChairmanMilo's Collection

The Neville Duke Kitty is a nice one as you say Brunowbe, That one and many like her kept old Rommel short of supplies all the time.

Without them the desert war would have been a whole lot tougher and longer.

Corgis are good representations of this sturdy reliable little fighter, hats off to Curtis.

God Bless America.

Talking Re: ChairmanMilo's Collection

Thank you for your compliments, everyone.

Jim - as much I as I would love to start collecting 1:48, especially GMP, I don't have the room or the funds to do so at the moment. What with the new Corgis coming out (hopefully) and all the new Hobby Master lately, 1:48 isn't going to be near the top of my priority list. I have the HM JEJ Spitfire XXII and the late-war Franklin Mint Hartmann Bf 109G on order to sit next to my Corgi Bishop SE.5a and Richtofen Albatros D.V. I think it will make for an interesting display - the top-scoring Commonwealth and German aces sitting next to each other. I'm kind of curious about Franklin Mint, to be honest. I haven't actually seen one in person, but I'd say PappyB's expert photography makes it FEEL like I've seen them already...

I like to have well-balanced and logical displays. A single 1:48 P-40 sitting amongst 1:72 diecast would look weird. It'd drive me (more) crazy.

You know what will happen if I order just one GMP. If I order one, I'll want the rest of their P-40s. Once I have them, I'll start thinking about Mustangs... it just goes downhill from there.

Someday, Jim, someday. I will resist temptation... for now.

Re: ChairmanMilo's Collection

Chairman, I totally agree with Jim's comment re the GMP P-40's, even one as a centrepice display as you certainly won't regret it.....

Also congrats on securing the Garfield Spit, that is the last one i'm after to finish my 1/72 collection (until someone brings out a Griffon-powered version in 1/72)

I don't have the Corgi Garfield Spit, perhaps you are referring to the Matchbox Spitfire II sitting next to the Ju 88?

I wouldn't mind having it, but I've decided to stop collecting Corgi Spitfires (except if I can find the JEJ threesome) and wait and see if Gemini releases more IXs and gets around to finally releasing their Spitfire Is. Witty also has some new Spitfire Vs coming out, and I wouldn't mind picking up some of the Dragon Spitfire Vbs - they do look the part, in my humble opinion.

Re: ChairmanMilo's Collection

Some recent additions.

A 1:400 Gemini Macs Vickers VC-10 K4:

1:400 Canadian Forces C-17 Globemaster sitting next to the new VC-10:

New Israeli airpower! Witty F-15D "Ru'ah Pratsim" (WTW-72-006-007), Witty F-16C of the 101st Squadron (WTW-72-010-023) and Hobby Master A-4E of the 116th Squadron (HA1407). The right rear horizontal stabilizer on the F-15D was loose and required a bit of white glue to stay put. The unpainted zuni pods on the A-4E are a bit of a bother but the plane itself looks outstanding. I just wish I had more ordnance to mount on its weapons pylons! The thing was a bomb truck after all!

Newly expanded Vietnam War display. Isn't it great to see the first two Hobby Master Phantoms sitting next to each other? I'm glad I was able to pick up "Showtime 100".

Last but not least, my first WW2 warbird in 1:48 - the Hobby Master Spitfire XIVe as flown by J.E. Jones, sitting next to the Bishop SE.5a in the same scale! I thought it would be historically significant to have the top Commonwealth aces of both conflicts sitting next to each other - as I mentioned earlier, I plan on getting a Hartmann Bf 109G in the same scale by Franklin Mint to sit next to the Richtofen Albatros D.V (and the Fokker Triplane when it comes out later this year).

Re: ChairmanMilo's Collection

Two new additions...

^ Corgi Halifax B.Mk.III AA37202 as flown by Cyril Barton VC. I bought this one because I couldn't stand waiting for "Friday the 13th", AA37204. I'm thinking about picking up the Norway (AA37201) and North African (AA37203) in the near future, seeing as they're not in demand at the moment and are affordable. New ones are going to start costing upwards of $150 so I should probably catch up with the old releases The Halifax mould is one of Corgi's best despite the use of more plastic. I figure that the plastic allows for better detailing. It's weird how the Halifax weighs about as much as the Hobby Master Spitfire XIV in 1:48!

^ Dragon Armor DRR60282, an M4A3(105) HVSS.
