Re: 2006 Collection

You guys are way out of control....I think I may have gotten four - yes that's 4 - in 2006...

I never thought I would say this Skunky, but you appear to be the most sane, sorry I meant sensible, member around here .

One of the reasons that I've shifted away from 1/72 scale is the saturation of the market which is in one sense great, but started making me lose interest as the 'thrill of the chase' was waning (there is also no way to keep up as regards budget and space, not to mention that I like displaying my aircraft, which lose their charm when they resemble an ant-heap/overcrowded parking lot) .

One sheep to rule them all ...

I'm making a copy of this and sending it to all of my old teachers who said I would never amount to much.

...and now I would like to add that this observation
.....I like displaying my aircraft, which lose their charm when they resemble an ant-heap/overcrowded parking lot)

...is absolutely spot-on. I like to have some breathing room between my airplanes. A chaotic mass of diecast is not appealing at all.

Re: 2006 Collection

Oh my! Wayyyy to many were purchased and lots of $$$$ spent on this very addicted hobby, both 1/72 scale planes and now 1/72 armor.

Re: 2006 Collection

Last year was a 'runaway train' not only for diecasts planes but other 'stuff' I'm involved in from another hobby. So this year, I'm gonna try to scale back...yeah right!

Re: 2006 Collection

I'm afraid to count. I'm very afraid to count my planes and AFVs. If I determined a number, my wife would probably hammer me with it! Good thing I can stash it all in two locations. At any one time, she'll only be able to count about half of them.

Re: 2006 Collection

Bought 28 1/72 models this year and won another one. Funding came partially through selling a batch of 1/400 airliners I didn't want anymore.

Breakdown:

11 Corgi, 3 Witty, 1 FOV, 7 Easy Model, 5 IXO, 1 Hobby Master, 1 Legacy of Valor

Nothing was over $40 and most were under $15 (thanks Ebay!).

Re: 2006 Collection

Ouch. 90 aircraft, and a smattering of armour, plus one or two cars. 'Bit over-board given that my official budget was supposed to be two per month.

Re: 2006 Collection

Well, I purchased quite a bit (10+ A/C, 20+ Armor, 10+ kits) in 2006, but I was really just getting started in 1/72 diecast, moving down from 1/6 to 1/18 to 1/72.

A big part of my collecting has been financed by selling off my extra 1/6 and 1/18 stuff, so I'm only partially "out of control", and I have tried to be careful to wait for sales (picked up the two MiG-21s for $18 each, for example).

Re: 2006 Collection

So Skunky, what were the lucky four that you purchased in 2006? Inquiring minds want to know...
