Re: CW pricing?

With the price of everything else going up. I'll have to be more selective on what I'll buy. The price of this Crusader is awful high. I'll buy one but not a couple like I have been. To bad they didn't put the pin up on it. That would of sealed the deal for me.

No regrets!!

Re: CW pricing?

Boys, did you read the Flying Mule newsletter? Prices aren't going up across the board. The price of his VF-41 F-14 exclusive are going up from $69.99 to $74.99, a $5 increase. Nowhere in his newsletter does he mention anything about the prices of other CW releases going up that high. For an exclusive release we should all expect to pay a bit more, right?

In a few of the webshops that I frequent I don't see the price of new CW releases going up past $60. Why are you all so upset?

Re: CW pricing?

I have no problem with this particular price increase. $75-$80 seems fair to me for an F-14 manufactured to the level of quality
that theirs are. In my opinion we've been getting a pretty good bargain so far. Obviously I'd rather pay less, but hey, fair is
fair.

I would definitely have a problem with a smaller jet like the F-8 costing over $65-$70, though, unless it had a wide range of ordinance
options and well-painted pilots. Absolute price for me is negotiable-- what I care about is value for my money. If I can by four or five
really nice aircraft a year rather than 10 or 12 merely decent ones, I'm totally up for it. I'd rather have an A-6 with a half dozen stores
options for $90 than a couple mediocre F-15s with four missiles and no tanks for $80 or $90. If they want to toss in GBU-12s and Mk
82 unguided bombs with the next CW F-14, I'd be happy to pay another ten or fifteen bucks over and above this new pricepoint. Ditto
for low-viz jets that they might want to make in smaller quantities, or for a B, or for a retooled mold for an early A in those awesome
Wolfpack colors! whatever. even $100 bucks for a superb 1/72 model is fine with me, so long as it comes with a very generous set
of ordinance (and, crucially, the racks to mount them properly!!!!!).

also, as others have mentioned, this price increase is for a limited edition exclusive...which amounts to something of a special case.

Re: CW pricing?

Size is not so relevant to cost these days. Its the labor cost that is so costly in production. It is thew same reason that kids cloths are approaching the same cost as adult wear now. Material cost was always the consideration of the past, but now when you add in the higher cost of labor, size and materials is not as much of a factor.

You do get what you pay for, HM has done a great job and for the price, you get a pretty nice model. It is a step up for the CW wings, but I think the tiny details are worth it. As long as the quality on construction does not drop, and they do not start skimping on the extras LIKE EXTRA MISSILES AND SUCH cough cough hint cough, I think they should do well. On thing CW should take into account is that the economy here is also having a double effect on the cost of their products to the consumer demand. If they continue to raise the cost and cut back on quality or extras, they could lose out as you are starting to see with the Carousel line. One look on their forum tells you how much the higher cost has cut on the enthusiasm for their line.

Not upset, just surprised -- remember, when these first came out we had a similar thread about $59.99 maybe being too much. It just seems like a lot of small price increases by CW in a short amount of time, but this is a trend we will probably have to get used to across the board. Maybe that's why I'm buying FM again -- prices on those are dropping like stones over here at the moment..... while everything else is climbing.

Re: CW pricing?

Just my personal opinion on what I am willing to pay guys. If you're willing to shell out $69.99 + per plane then more power to you! I just don't see where the justification for the increase lies.

In most cases, I can get a HM plane for between $29 and $45. Yes, I know most consider the HM product inferior to CW, but for my tastes there is not much of a drop off in the quality of CW's planes to what HM gives us. For example HM's A-10 is excellent with tons of ordinance and can be had for around $40, now how much better is CW's F-14 (since we don't have the exact planes to compare)?

Another reason to my feeling the way I do is what Tripoli said, "On thing CW should take into account is that the economy here is also having a double effect on the cost of their products to the consumer demand. If they continue to raise the cost and cut back on quality or extras, they could lose out as you are starting to see with the Carousel line. Like I said, I just don't see the justification for $69.99 especially in future releases of A-7's and F-8's. But again, just my $.02...take it for what it's worth!

Re: CW pricing?

To be honest the price is a little high....
But it should be balanced out as in size too..
The F-14 should at the higher price range while the A-7 & F-8 should be a little cheaper because they are a lot smaller then the Tomcat.
That is really the correct way to price their products.
