| Re: Which Tomcat comes next?? le differance, Revell Germany made an F-14D very similar to that VF-31 Tomcat you posted so that would be my only thing against it (it has a Gray tail instead of black, but the rainbow is still there). Although Dragon made these versions already, I still think CW should make the VF-213 and VF-31 CAG birds from their final cruise. Dragon and Witty butchered these great schemes by applying them to their subpar models. From the VF-2 schemes you posted, the 101 jet is my favorite. I don't know why, but I was just never much of a fan of the skull on the later VF-2 tails. That being said, I'd take pretty much any B or D at this point. | |||||||||||||

Reason: fixed a fouled up quote tag
I assume you're referring to these: ![]() ![]() Dragon's VF-31 has a paintjob similar to this one from 2000: :I'm curious as to which one people of these two people prefer: the black-nose NK100 from 2000 or the more "normal" --though also more historically significant-- NK101 from the last cruise. I'm not sure which I prefer myself, but then I'm not a huge fan of any jet painted with that much red... Given a reasonable amount of time, the "somebody else has already made it" concern is probably not that big an issue. There's plenty of turnover in the industry...older models sell out, lots of new collectors enter the market, ect, and after a while the glow of a new model wears off somewhat. As more and more people start to own really nice jets like those made by CW and HM, I think a bunch of people are going to start looking at their older models more critically, which can only help the case for the VF-31 and VF-213 jets. If Century were to come out with either jet in latter 2009 or 2010, I don't think there'd be very much risk at all. Risk from the fact that the other guys have already made it, I mean...I happen to think that the VF-213 schemes are a little hard on the eyes. (Obviously, these jets would still be subject to the same ordinary risks as any diecast aircraft, as far as the question of whether or not the market likes it.) Both Witty and Dragon saw fit to make them, though, so I must be wildly out of step with mainstream opinion on this one lol...I guess there's a first time for everything
101 is fine with me! Maybe they'll target the holiday season as a good time to send us a B and a second D...skulls and crossbones sure look great with all the holiday decorations!
haha, agreed...please, CW, I beg you--- take my money! | ||||||||||||||||

| Re: Which Tomcat comes next?? The VF-31 you have pictured is the CO bird on the final cruise. The CAG was this one. (which I prefer) ![]() the Dragon bird has a number of flaws, probably the biggest red flag being that the tail code is still NK when the tail code should be AJ since they were (and still are) assigned to Carrier Airwing 8 when they deployed on the final Tomcat cruise. this is what the CO bird looked like on their final cruise. ![]() | |||||||||||||
