Re: F-8E Crusader release!

never seen anything on a crusaders wings but bombs, wonder if he means the fuselage pylons?
if so fuselage pylons only carry sidewinders or zuni rockets.

Yes that would look really odd to see bombs hanging off those rails if thats what he means

Re: F-8E Crusader release!

Where did you see pics of wing mounted missiles??

Sorry I just looked at the ordinance and saw the extra Sidewinders and Zuni rockets, thinking it could mount more than it really could. I know the F-8 has the side fuselage Sidewinder rails but without thinking assumed it could have more Sidewinders and Zuni rockets attached to its wing pylons or belly. I don't know a lot about the F-8 or weapon loadout combinations but I googled up some more pictures and realized my fumble.

Re: F-8E Crusader release!

This may clear up some ideas on the bomb/rocket configuration on the F-8. Sidewinders and MK-82s

Re: F-8E Crusader release!

I'm a little confused. from what David posted and what I got from the Mule about what the first release Crusader. It says the the flaps and slats will be deployed, ie down, on the first release which is NP 100. BUT, the picture shows them raised. I just want to know how its comming because I don't want them down, I want a clean crusader. Any Help!?

Chris

There seems to be information coming out of Japan that there will be three releases of the VF-211 F-8E's-- NP-100, NP101, and NP103. I think that NP100 and one of the others will have the flaps and slats up or non-deployed ("clean" as you say) as would be the case with the wing lowered. The other VF-211 F-8E will have the raised wing and deployed slats and flaps, as it should be when the wing is raised.

I'm presuming by now you guys have them ?

I've just picked-up my TWO "VF.211" F-8's (150336 & 149150) at Waddington, Lincolnshire.

Fresh out the pack & laid flat with no 'bits' attached whatsoever !

No, I don't have mine yet-- in fact, I don't think anyone in the US has received their Crusaders. Does anyone know when they are going to arrive in the USA?
