Re: F-8E Crusader release!

Nitpick. F-8's don't have slats. Nor do the F-15/16/18/20/22/23. Not many fighter jets have them.

Nitpick or not-- you are right. How about leading edge flaps or....?

Actually, I am glad to hear that CW is apparently making the F-8E in the lowered clean configuration and in the raised wing mode with the flaps deployed. The downside is that I will have to spend money on getting two VF-211 F-8E's. I guess that won't be too bad. I expect I will have some problems explaining to the wife that I needed two of them that "look the same".

Instead of getting two of the same looking VF-211, Why don't you wait until some different ones become available?

If the truth be known, I will probably get two of the VF-211 F-8E's, one clean and one with the wing raised and flaps deployed. I also expect to get one of the USMC "Fighting Shamrocks" that I can put a bomb load on. After that, I would not be surprised if I bought other CW F-8's that are released. I really like F-8's, and probably will not be able to resist buying several. After all, "When you are out of F-8's, you are out of fighters"!

Re: F-8E Crusader release!

There's pictures of the Fighting Shamrocks release on CW's site now, and it's looking pretty nice - bombs everywhere on this Marines version!

I'm not sure but if I'm looking at the same picture, it has the same amount of dumb bombs as the other Crusaders. I think I'm going to get the F-8E VF-162 Hunter's version. Anyone know if you can replace the wing railed sidewinders for more bombs? I think I'll weigh mine down for CAS.

Not only are they dumb bombs, but they're retarded as well.

Re: F-8E Crusader release!

never seen anything on a crusaders wings but bombs, wonder if he means the fuselage pylons?
if so fuselage pylons only carry sidewinders or zuni rockets.
