Re: Just in from the Mule F-8

Super, but Iif I only want one...

Is this it?

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.

I'm in the same boat -- I'd go for this one if had the "noseart" from that other color profile... but I think I'll wait until the next scheme or two are unveiled myself.

And I'm not paying $75 plus shipping for the sucker.

Still listed at $69.99 - perhaps the increase will only be restricted to the F14s, although I doubt it.

Re: Just in from the Mule F-8

I'll buy it--- and happily so. But then I have been wanting an F-8 Crusader for some time. I would not be surprised if I get several of them. I just wonder if the CW release will really be this particular plane, #149152. I wonder if that view of this plane originated with Century Wings or was put up by Flying Mule to represent the plane. The reason I wonder is that this airplane was lost by 1967 as I understand. I would not be surprised if they do the later NP-100 that replaced this one. Regardless of which Bu No. it is, I will buy it.

After all, when you are out of F-8's, you are out of fighters!

Re: F-8E Crusader release!

I found these poor quality but yet VERY interesting pictures on the Century Wings page of a Japanese web site called “Big Thunder”

-8E クルーセイダー アメリカ海軍VF-211チェックメイツ NP100
-8E クルーセイダー アメリカ海軍VMF(AW)333

Edit: the jpegs won't display but the "Shamrock" F-8E is this plane.

Re: F-8E Crusader release!

Do you have a link to the "Big Thunder " website where you found these pictures?

Re: F-8E Crusader release!

Those are just scans of CEM's decal instructions. I'd normally say just go straight to the source, but they recently closed down. Their drawing's accuracy sucked though, so you're not missing much. I have a good chunk of their F-8 instructions saved on my PC though.

I was under the impression that rdenham found some CW pictures of the two releases on the Japanese "Big Thunder" website, but he was unable to post them here. So he decided to post a scan of the recently-departed Cutting Edge instructions showing the USMC F-8E to give us an idea of the plane shown on the Japanese site. I was hoping he or someone could post a link to this "Big Thunder" site in Japan, so we could go there and see these pictures that were posted there.

Re: F-8E Crusader release!

Ack, now that I re-read his post with your explanation, I get it. Sorry.

::edit:: I think these are the pics he tried to post:
