A-7E Corsair II USN VA-25 Fist of the Fleet USS Ranger 1975

Today was my day off from work and a friend came over to show me his new A-7E Corsair II USN VA-25 Fist of the Fleet, NE400, USS Ranger, 1975.
That thing looks pretty nice...But he had a extra set of bombs on there rather then the AGM-45's...It looks ok .....But i will use the AGM-45's on mine.
I ask him if i could snap a few pictures for all you guys to see.
Now i can't wait to get mine.
Enjoy the pictures.

Question Re: A-7E Corsair II USN VA-25 Fist of the Fleet USS Ranger 1975

Nice! Due to limited funds and display space I'm sticking to one model per aircraft from CW. Currently have the A-6E Black Panthers, F-14A Black Aces and the A-7E Sidewinders.

Can the A-7E actually have MERs on the outermost hardpoints?

Re: A-7E Corsair II USN VA-25 Fist of the Fleet USS Ranger 1975

Close Air Support/Battlefield Area Interdiction: on a CAS/BAI, or a combined CAS/BAI mission, the A-7 flies to a radius of 460 miles to be on station for 1-2 hours with 1,000 rounds of ammunition for the M61A1, two wing drop-tanks on inboard hardpoints (stations 3 and 4), and six to 12 Mk 82 500-lb bombs (total of 12 on two double MERs or six on two TERs on mid-wing hardpoints, stations 2 and 5), with outboard wing hardpoints (stations 1 and 6) normally not used; for dedicated anti-armor work, the load-out would be two wing drop-tanks and eight Mk 20 Rockeye CBUs on two mid-wing hardpoints (stations 2 and 5), with outboard wing hardpoints not used; ECM pod may be carried

The CAS look isn't all that bad. Wish I could see mine, but I leave for Kansas before it gets here.

Did the extra bombs come with the A-7?? I bought the sidewinders version but I prefer the ground support planes..

Re: A-7E Corsair II USN VA-25 Fist of the Fleet USS Ranger 1975

Are they actually OUTBOARD pylons with bombs, or just another copy of the middle pylons with bombs? A-7 middle and outboard pylons are very similar, but not identical. Can't be sure from the pics, though I'd guess it's just another set of middle pylons.

As for loads---I found a pic of an A-7 in Vietnam about to be catapulted off with 4 bombs on MER's on each of the outer 4 pylons, so it's certainly possible.

I have no idea if they did or not he didn't say...But i like it better with the AIM-9 & AGM-45 and bombs on them myself.
If his came that way then it was a error.... It should of had 2 missiles with it.

hi Starman

forgive me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you are saying that the photos you've
posted show a Corsair without AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles. that's not correct;
the missiles on the fuselage hardpoints are AIM-9s.

the munitions shown on the outer hardpoints on CW's website are antiradiation
missiles (ARMs)...99% sure those are AGM-45 Shrikes. your buddy apparently
replaced the ARMs with unguided bombs...
