As for loads---I found a pic of an A-7 in Vietnam about to be catapulted off with 4 bombs on MER's on each of the outer 4 pylons, so it's certainly possible.

Thanks David for the clarification about the outboard MERs.

Cool Re: A-7E Corsair II USN VA-25 Fist of the Fleet USS Ranger 1975

Aw Cripes Sake!!!! CW, give us some missile pallets or at least produce a side kit so we can switch out from the bomb loads! Dang, like the scheme but also was looking forward to a load mix on the Fist of the Fleet model. Disappointing to hear they made a switch on that. Keep doing that and I am not willing to advance order the planes.

I may be reading this thread wrong, but CW didn't make a switch with the loadout -- the owner just modified his using bombs from (another CW A-7?) to carry all bombs -- the actual model somes with bombs, ARMs, and the sidewinders -- see the pics at the flying mule for reference.

Re: A-7E Corsair II USN VA-25 Fist of the Fleet USS Ranger 1975

Did the extra bombs come with the A-7?? I bought the sidewinders version but I prefer the ground support planes..

Harry,
I just saw him at work this morning and asked him about it ....The extra bombs didn't come with the Fist of the Fleet A-7 he got this from his Sidewinders A-7
He already had....Only problem is he says the Sidewinder A-7 is thrashed the cat knock it off the top shelve and from 5 feet it hit the marble floor and busted up pretty good but says he can fix it later on down the road....Yikes keep the cats out for godsakes

Re: A-7E Corsair II USN VA-25 Fist of the Fleet USS Ranger 1975

It would have been nice if CW made the MER's (and Shrike launchers) separate from the pylons--then those of us with 2 or more A-7's actually could swap the weapons around easily/accurately. There's little point in having "removable" stuff if you can't actually change/swap stuff around.

Frankly, I'm disappointed in CW's weapons after the F-14. Only the F-14 really has "options". All the others are simply "on or off"--you can't really change WHAT the plane carries. Hopefully the F-8's more like the F-14.

Well, If anyone wants to trade missiles for bombs, I want bombs and will have missiles to trade when I get my FoF A-7...

Re: A-7E Corsair II USN VA-25 Fist of the Fleet USS Ranger 1975

I was expecting this A-7, but after these pics here and at Mule, got a big doubt - I really don't know wich one to buy - Fist's or Marauders'. Any suggestions?

By the way, this bigger US roundel than the other two A-7's looks really nice. I wish a Marauder with one, like in USS America's deployment in Vietnam..

I argree with you on that.

My friend just told me that HM's Armament can be used on the Century wings aircrafts...
He just took his Marauders and used HM's A-10 Armament on them...Robert is always doing crazy things with his collection.
This picture is just a example. A-7 never had a Armament like this.
Sorry for the pictures we took it in the break room.

Re: A-7E Corsair II USN VA-25 Fist of the Fleet USS Ranger 1975

My point is, it wouldn't be right. (I'm a stickler for accuracy). The bombs are attached to a middle pylon, the missile rails are on outer pylons. Even though they FIT on the model if you have all bombs or all missiles, it's wrong to put a pylon in the incorrect position. Many people won't care/notice as the middle and outer pylons are similar in appearance, but it is annoying that Century didn't mold them in such a way that the WEAPONS could be switched from pylon to pylon---then they'd be correct. Merely moving around the "pylon/bomb assembly" results in impossible/incorrect configurations, even though it actually does fit on the model and looks "pretty close" to being right. (they made the missiles removable from the rail, but that's fairly pointless as the rail is still permanently molded to the pylon---there's still nothing else you can attach to it)

PS--too bad HM's armament sucks. (Models are great, but their weapons are the worst of all the 1/72 brands)
