Relationship between CW & HM - food for thought?

Have a look at post #29 and post #30 on the following DAF thread. Food for thought indeed ...

I was reading that the other day on that forum....I had no idea that both were made by the same factory.
Even Zed said it on there too....Learning something new everyday..
At least that factory is getting the planes out to the collectors.

Kinda explains the heavy panel lines and wash on both lines -- though CW doesn't get the same heat for it, that I can't explain

I like the wash. If I wanted clean, detailless birds I'd go with witty or dragon.

Re: Relationship between CW & HM - food for thought?

Here are a few thoughts since I just bought three CW birds.
The A-7 is great with only two issues that come to mind. 1. The seem that runs right up the middle of the intake and 2. No fan for the engine. Are these deal breakers? No, but they could have been addressed for the money.
Now the Tomcats. I bought one from a store and another off e-bay.
My Black Aces came missing the left rail for the AIM 9. This sucks as I can't get a replacement for it because of the limited numbers produced. If this were a Hobby Masters bird, I could easily get it replaced or at the very least get a replacement part.
My Black Knights bird has a small gap at the wing root on the left side and getting the rear gear doors out after they were put in there was a PITA!! I inflicted some minor damage to the bird and the gear doors trying to extract them. Not something I'm pleased with.
Does CW make a great product? Yes, but there are several issues with some purchases out there that cannot be fixed or replaced. So in my book thats a mark agaisnt them.
Hobby Master produces a great product for a great price. I wouldn't put HM in the same arena as CW. They are more in line with the Gorgi, Dragon, Gemini lines. Given time, I think HM could give CW a run for their money. The big plus is, if you have an issue with it. Chances are you can get it replaced and not be stuck with it.

See ya all in about 15 months!!

you would all be surprised at other companies products that are made in a similar situation[ie brand x made in the same factory as brand y and brand x etc]

Inflight 200 (high end civil models for those who don't know) are made by he same people as Witty Wings.
Zed is right, many different diecast brands are built side by side in the same Chinese factory's.

Maybe Corgi should be switching to the same factory. They seem capable of turning out great model, CW & HM both.

You got that right. The town I grew up in had at one time 3 GM plants, one being a foundry. If they had spare production time they would go after other contracts, and a GM factory was actually producing parts for Ford. A factory sitting still is costing money not making it.
