So i guess 1/200 scale has gone out the window?!

They weren't going to do 1/200

Re: 1/144 Is Now Official

I think its only fair to give Century Wings some time to post their final product. Prepo and even pre-release photos have had some minor mistakes in the past. Most if not all of these corrections have been made and I haven't seen them disappoint yet.
Just my 2 cents...

I hope they don't slow down or stop the 1:72 scale releases!

Re: 1/144 Is Now Official

Has anyone noticed that on Century Wings website it says that these Jolly Rogers are exclusive to TOPGUN which is CW's store ...

I have not been told yet that we will be getting these looks like Japan Exclusive to me

Actually, its still a posibility that they might be coming to the US. I say stay tuned. We might hear more next week.

Re: 1/144 Is Now Official

Small scales are inherent to the Asian market. Houses (90% apartments in fact) are small, display space is a premium. For example, 1/48 is almost a market poison. I may be one of the few crazy ones with 1/18 XXI Century stuff on my shelves.
Remember the 1/200 Gulliver models? it used to be Japan EXCLUSIVE too, until they started to do American airframes and liveries and some spilled over to the US, but main market is still Japan.
As for size/price ratio, I would be less optimistic. Although the model is 1/8 the volume and 1/2 the size, the details are not (are not supposed to be) less. Printing of details is one of the most expensive parts of the manufacturing process, and labor intensive areas like attaching parts is also time consuming, so taking these factors into account, the material saved does not cut costs by too much, going back to the 1/200 fighter models, their retail prices are sometimes too close to their 1/72 counterparts for comfort, especially if they come from Herpa.

From what I heard, they understand that small scale fighters aren't as popular in the west

Re: 1/144 Is Now Official

It's official! They will be coming to the US later this year. So that means that you can get them from fine US Retailers and don't have to spend your paycheck on shipping from Japan!

Re: 1/144 Is Now Official

Yeah, I like the idea of the flight deck.

Looks like I'll have to make some resin copies of my DML 1/144 flight deck for displays!

Very nice looking piece, but it is afterall Century Wings! :-)
