F-14 Missile pallet poor fit fix ???

Good evening gents,

OK, I admit it. Century Wings produces the absolute best diecast aircraft, period. My humble, but growing CW collection puts all my other models to shame. But, I am somewhat, just a little bit, dismayed that the missile pallets on my F-14 sundowners do not fit snugly up against the fuselage. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and more importantly, does anyone have any easy solutions to this problem ??

Thanks in advance.

Re: F-14 Missile pallet poor fit fix ???

Been discussed a million times. Everything from white glue and then rubber bands wrapped around the fuselage, holding it snug overnight to heating them up with a hair dryer to re-shape the pallet (a lot of potential to mess it up IMO).

Hi wp_913. You can find several solutions to your problem in this thread: FOV VF-41 Question

Hope this helps.

Re: F-14 Missile pallet poor fit fix ???

I have had the same problem as well. Try using a hair dryer to bend the pallet into the right shape. This has been recommended by many on this forum and has personally worked well for me. But ya this is one of the two main issues I have with CW. The second being the inability of the landing gears to fit well into the body without removing the extra paint. CW birds aren't exactly cheap. Especially now that the new F-14s will cost $70.

No they are not terrible. They're too expensive.

Smartd, some difficult times may await you with regard to your diecast collecting - prices are going to get progressively more expensive in the foreseeable future ...

I never saw you as the "harbinger of doom" type, Cardo. In this instance I have to agree with you though. Hopefully CW comes out with a VF-1 and a lo-vis VF-84 Tomcat before they're $100 a pop.

Re: F-14 Missile pallet poor fit fix ???

I have found this issue on my JR AJ202 but then my BA AJ100 fits perfect.

To be fair, I don't mind having the 202 armed with AIM7s as I think they give it a sleeker look with it being in launch config, compared to having the missile pallets on. But for the price they cost it is anoying.

I will most likely try the hair dryer fix so I have the novelty of arming her up with some AIM54's.
