Extra armament for Century F-14s

Hi,

Can anyone suggest from a place from where I could obtain additional armament for the Century F-14s? I believe Century does not sell armament separately, which is a shame and would like to to suggest that Century should do so if possible.

So does anyone know any good 1:72 kits or weapons sets from where I could salvage additional armament for my F-14s? I want to load my Free Lancers bird with 6 Phoenix missiles for the ultimate Air-to-Air load-out (using white glue of course ).

Thanks is advance,

Smit

Re: Extra armament for Century F-14s

Hasegawa puts out an air to air missile weapon set that I do believe has Phoenix missiles (How many not sure). It would be their Weapons Set III.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

If you want it to be really accurate, you'd need to procure Phoenix adapters for the wings. Would have to either really hack up the Century pylons, or replace it all with Hasegawa parts.

Actually, considering the Combat History of the Phoenix Missile (ie no hits on targets), I'd say the having the combination of short, med, long range missiles sounds more efficient. Unless the targets are all slow lumbering bombers

Funny comment:

The Phoenix was the best anti-sub missile the Navy ever had.

I read that an Iranian F-14 reportedly used a Phoenix to down an Iraqi jet during their war.

I'm sure they did. But unfortunately the US Navy didn't have much luck with it when they used them in combat. Though some of the reasons was that a target was at the edge of its range

Was there ever a time when the US Navy ever fired a Phoenix missile in combat or in anger? I can't think of one. I am pretty sure that the two Libyan "incidents" did not involve Phoenix missiles and I have not heard of any being used in the Iraqi conflicts. However, I am certainly no expert on this, so I would love to hear from someone who is.

Theres the brief on the encounter. You'll have to look elsewhere for the exact details of why the Phoenix's failed.
