Re: Anyone out there have any news on the F-8?

there is no chance of an RF-8 i stated this when i first posted about the crusader being made.
and the reason being there are no kits of the recon version and it would involve alot of time and money to produce a new fuselage just to start with.
i know what kits are being used as the basis for century's F-8 but i dont know how far yoshi is in getting the prepro made up and ready for production.

OK somebody break it down Barney style for me. What is so great about the RF-8 Crusader other than it stayed as long as 1986? I got they flew over Cuba during the crisis, not that it gets me fired up to buy one. But I''m plenty happy with simple USN / USMC fighter versions. Don't care about allied nations that used them or those that flew wing man to the space shuttle. I want mine to be what the bird was designed to be, a Fighter!

I only want one cause it just continues with the Carrier Air Wing 8 theme. We have so many others, might as well keep it going as it makes for a cool display. Other than that, it doesn't really matter to me what kind of F-8 it is.

I'm glad this one is being made; but it's too bad we won't be getting any earlier models like the C, and all those cool paint schemes that adorned those earlier model birds.
David Hingtgen, you did a heck of a job explaining the differences (in an earlier thread) between the early and late model F-8s. Way to go, man!

Shawn, I think he's refering to the "Final Countdown" film birds that have served aboard the U.S.S. Nimitz CVN-68 / CVW-8 (Carrier Air Wing 8) that CW had released so far...

Re: Anyone out there have any news on the F-8?

I think 90% of the desire for an RF-8 is simply because that's the version that appeared in The Final Countdown. Their schemes are (IMHO) far inferior to the fighters. Plus they never shot down any MiGs, etc. Though there's always John Glenn's "Project Bullet" RF-8.

Could be that folks might just like to see it in a done in more than just the standard variant. It would be similar to doing only one variant of an FW 190 or P-51.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.
