Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

Three questions about buying the F-14, VF-84 Jolly Rogers:

1. Who is buying more than one?
2. Are you buying them for personal use only?---or for future sales/ trades?
3. If for sales/trades, are you strictly speculating that the new Jolly Rogers will dramatically rise in investment value?

(I'm curious because I don't keep up with values of limited-run planes)

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

I've pre ordered one, the new release. I've only bought more than one limited edition ( GA's Princess Elizabeth ) for a possible change of markings, not to make a profit by mark up. If I were to sell it and the bidding gets out of hand thats another story, but not my intent at time of purchase.

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

I've purchased two - one to keep and display & one put put aside for future sale or trade. I for one have no problem in selling on something that i own for more than I paid for it, I believe we call this "supply & demand". This model will be sought after in a few years time by my reckoning & whether I sell it to a local collector via an auction or deal is as yet unknown.

I believe we would all like to think our collections will rise in value over time as like most collectables many of the diecasts we own are limited runs which sell out quickly. I paid a hell of a lot more than retail for my AJ210 but I was grateful for the chance to buy it.

Take it out and play with it

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

I have preordered one and am thinking about maybe getting an additional one.

The additional model would just be used as a trading piece for another diecast that I may want.

Invest. Collect for fun but invest also. Invest if you can because later when you are hurting for money or someone has something for trade you will be prepared. It will be very hard to turn johnny come lately's down that are begging for something you know you might have dupes of but it is your hobby to enjoy so don't feel bad you have to find money to keep collecting from somewhere. Invest, if it's hot buy an extra. Invest and it will pay later supply and demand is right.

Invest.

Invest for the future.

Jolly Rogers are hot and always will be.

So it seems to be all about scooping as many as you can afford so as to stick it to newbie collectors who may enter the hobby at a later date.
I always wondered what the hysteria surrounding CW was all about, now it seems I know.

I'm buying just one. I already have all the other Jolly Rogers + one Jolly Rogers investment. (hint it's not the launch versions or #210)

very cynical Smartd - no one will force these 'newbie collectors' to buy one off another collector or forum member but if they want to swap something or pay the asking price then it's their call. I view these as the same as any of my other possesions - I didn't feel bad when I sold my home a few years back and made a profit on it & no one forced me to buy AJ210 from another forum member for a heck of a lot more than retail - like I said I was just glad to buy one!

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

I myself will not be purchasing any. I already own one CW F-14 and yes they are nice models but tail burners are not my thing. So 1 is enough for me. I will get one A-6, 1 A-7 and 1 F-8, and probably 1 of what ever new mould CW comes out with (if there prices don't go up anymore!) but I would rather put my "hobby" funds into aircraft that really interest me.
