Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

Gerry has some coming to his shop when they get here. He will pre-order you some or a couple . That's the best thing about his shop is no shipping. If you loo at his price minus shipping etc it's as good or better than most of the pre-order offers out there AND you get to look at it and smell the paint before you buy!

I am buying two of them, I plan on keeping one and trading the other in the future.

Keep'em flying.

If I can swing it...I may do the same.

Question Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

Thanks for the replies.

2 more questions:
1. How long do you keep a new-in-box Jolly Roger until it reaches maximum investment worth?
2. What is the maximum investment worth?

I'm new, so I've missed out on ALL CW tomcats, VF-84 being my favourite for the high vis paint scheme. I'm so happy its coming out and its my favourite AJ201. Back in maybe 1988 I got a toy Tomcat and it had a joystick on its tail that made sounds and it was VF84 AJ201. That toy started my love for the Jolly Roger squadron. I don't have the skill or nerves to do models other than snaptight, and snaptight doesn't have the best quality. I missed the Dragon VF103 AA103 so I hunted one down from a tiny shop in Spain and paid something crazy for it, like $130. I found one on eBay for $40 about a year later, so I grabbed it quick. Now I have one airborne and one ready for takeoff on my shelf. My point is, some of you might get upset that you bought a similar one for a much higher price since it was limited, I would be a little mad too. But if this didn't happen, someone would have to wait maybe years before someone made more or they themselves would pay an even crazier price. If I missed the boat on the AJ201, I'd fork out $200 from my very limited cash flow, not because its worth that much, but to me it would be worth that much New paint jobs might make people mad but how many of you bought the 2nd, 3rd or 4th CW JR Tomcat release as your first? If there were no repaints, you would all be mad and I would be too. When it says limited and after I've seen all the previous repaints, I get the feeling that the run is limited to 2000 pieces, when really for VF-84 theres a possibility of 26,000 pieces of a certain paint job simply by changing the plane number on the nose. I'm talking too much.

Back to the topic, I've preordered one, but since I'd give my little toe for an AJ201, I should preorder another and hope I can scratch up the cash for it. I'll keep both for years in case I miss something for one of them. Just curious, what does AJ/AA/AG on a tail stand for?

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

I had that toy too. Actually, my brother had the Jolly Rogers version and I had the Sundowners. As a kid it seemed like the only three F-14 squadrons in the world were VF-1 Wolfpack, VF-84 Jolly Rogers and VF-111 Sundowners. (based on the toys that came out)

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

I'm waiting for the world's currency to be exchanged in CW JR's. When that happens, I'll be a rich man! On another note, I checked the CW site for this new reissue - it's not there. Is it a future release, or just a premature April Fool's joke?
