Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

now Parsig can't get $150 for one? The only logical explanation is that all this talk of the new model took away from the desirability/collectibility of this model.

Honestly though, is it really worth the $150 just because you came late to the game? I slight mark up ok, but going for 2-3 times its value?

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

Invest. Collect for fun but invest also. Invest if you can because later when you are hurting for money or someone has something for trade you will be prepared. It will be very hard to turn johnny come lately's down that are begging for something you know you might have dupes of but it is your hobby to enjoy so don't feel bad you have to find money to keep collecting from somewhere. Invest, if it's hot buy an extra. Invest and it will pay later supply and demand is right.

Invest.

Invest for the future.

Jolly Rogers are hot and always will be.

Louie - are you so sure this "investment" is a good idea based on my previous post / thoughts? How many did you pre-order for "investment"?

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

Why is there no mention of this new bird on thier website? Is this the next April Fools Day gag?

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

I have the Black Aces and JR 200 currently sitting on my shelf. E-mail confirmation just arrived that the VX-1 Vandy is on its way from the Orient. I think that will complete my Tomcat collection.

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

I just want CW to re-issue the VF-111 CAG bird with the Miss Molly markings; if they have to put out both versions (the 1990 version with artwork on the starboard side only, or the later one with the artwork on both sides), that's fine with me. I just want the 1990 version. Because of the artwork, this re-issue IMO would not interfere with the rarity/collectibility of the 1988 version.

I agree with you on this. It would be a very different scheme and not a rehash.

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

Hi slide, yes I read your comments, but have been around a good while and have seen the trends. I bought 3 yellow Corgi SAR helo's a few years back and sold all 3 for over $200 a pop. That was a speculative purchase. I bought 3 FM white 11 FW-190's and sold them for between $100-150 each. That was a speculative purchase. I bought other models and did the same. My method while not perfect is tried tested and true. I do not have a crystal ball about the Jolly Rogers AJ210. I do have20/13 vision and what I see is a beautiful, precision made, and limited release model of the worlds most popular F-14 livery. These will go and then become available probably more often than not on e-bay and the forum. Long term I see a model that is highly collectible and will increase in value after the mold is melted and the ones on the open market dwindle. This is all just my way of thinking. Some probably find me to sound like a hoarder. I am investing a few extra bucks of my hard earned money to hopefully turn a couple of models and keep it going. I have heard guys say they are just getting one or two that's cool maybe I will too if I get short on funds between now and August. My whole point was for us not to look down on guys that want to think ahead. It is not like we are in a lifeboat in mid-ocean and one of us thought to bring a 12 pack of water bottles and the others with one each cry foul. I was just saying it seems like a good investment to buy multiples of this model. I wish I had had a couple of AJ210's laying around last Christmas. We have a long way to go between now and then let's just wait and see.

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

I suggest everyone buy enough Jolly Rogers to at least fill your living room from floor to ceiling! I can help you all with that.

All kidding aside.... I, like Louie, tend to" buy one to keep and one to sell" when it comes to collecting. It's been a great way for me to keep financing my slot car collection (addiction). Often times I have been able to sell a duplicate car for 2-3 times its original worth. I have also picked a few dogs in my day too....You just never know.

I do think that the value of these Century Wings birds will outperform the DOW and the NASDAQ this year....Of course that wouldn't be hard to do. Ha ha!

Re: Who's buying multiple Jolly Rogers?

Louie - you are beginning to convince me to follow you on this venture...but I am still mad at CW for saying these JRs are "Limited". They seem to be absolutely "Limitless"!
