| What do you want for the next F-14? After the release of the Sundowners, there aren't any more "planned/announced" F-14's that I know of. I plan to start a poll soon so we can hopefully get Century's attention and all vote on one or two that we all agree on would be good to have. (Maybe several polls---go from 12, to 6, to 2). But before we get to that stage, we need to know what people want to see in the first place! It seems that Century really, really isn't going to be making low-vis any time soon as apparently it just doesn't sell in Japan, no matter how much we may want it (2 of my 3 most-wanted F-14D's are low-vis). So I'm going to suggest "colorful" planes only, to have a better chance of being made. So, I'll start off with my most-wanted planes: F-14B, VF-143 CAG, 2000--2005 or so. (2002's 9/11 marking on the nose like on the kit box pictured would be nice) F-14B, VF-101 CO, red-tail (95-97) F-14B, VF-103 CO, white-tip (1996-2002 or so) F-14D, VF-2 CAG, 2003: F-14A, VF-154 CAG, 1998 "Formal Knight" tail: F-14A, VF-154 CAG, 1996 "50th Anniversary": Finally, F-14A, VF-1, 1975-1977. Problem is, most of VF-1's planes of that era require the original style of beaver-tail, which is a huge change and would require an entirely new fuselage mold. However, there were just a few of VF-1's that can use the normal style of beavertail/fuselage. However, they would still require new gunvents, and a probeless nosecone. Depends on if Century is willing to tool up another style of forward fuselage (a probeless nose with early gunvents could be used for many other schemes---notably VF-124, 32, 14, 143, 142, and 2's early schemes---all of which are very colorful and neat---but VF-1's were the best) Possibly the greatest F-14 scheme ever---it was all downhill from here: Later I'll post pics of other early F-14A schemes that could use the VF-1-style nose mold, might convince Century to make a mold for it, once they see how many neat schemes there are that require it. | |||||||||||||

| Re: What do you want for the next F-14? Actually, there is the VF-154 2000 version that is like the 202 & 203. Also, I found out that they are planning to release VF-41 from Final Countdown. But yeah, I like the pukin gods cag, VF1, VF2, VF14 with the all black tail, VF-31 and VF-213 | |||||||||||||

| Re: What do you want for the next F-14? Early block A model VF-1 but with an unmodified Beaver tail(regular production A would be fine too). Though, I would want VF-1 to have the radom tan and whight nose and the white wave underneath as opposed to the one you showed in the picture, can't tell if it has white undersurfaces in the picture you posted. This is the scheme I'm refering to it's a Hasegawa model I'm STILL working on. Needs subtle weathering still and final parts still need to be added. Then that was the exact VF-143 Pukin Dogs I was alwas refering to David, so I'll go with that for the B model. After that it's all just gravey! Chris | |||||||||||||

| Re: What do you want for the next F-14? How about a VF-142 model, or VF-51? That's my vote. | |||||||||||||

| Re: What do you want for the next F-14? David Hingtgen, I agree with you about the "Pukin' Dogs" and the Wolfpack schemes. I've had these two in mind for some time now. However, I'd prefer a little different variant of VF-143s scheme. I also wouldn't mind seeing a "Super Tomcat" scheme. F-14A 159344 VF-143 'Pukin' Dogs' NAS Miramar/USS America Another Miramar Tomcat, this one from VF-143 is the Squadron commander's bird, as can be seen from the multi-colored tail plumage. The odd winged animal on the tail most likely has some Greco-Roman heritage, but someone thought it looked like a vomiting canine, and the name "Pukin' Dogs" was here to stay F-14A Tomcat BuNo.162597 NE 100 of VF-1 'Wolfpack' of Capt Don Brown 'DG' CAG and Cdr Cdr Steve Gaylor 'Dad' F-14B Tomcat BuNo.162919 AA 101 of VF-74 'Be-Devilers' of Cdr Skip Sayers CO and Cdr John Monroe XO | |||||||||||||

| Re: What do you want for the next F-14? I know I will catch flak for this, but this is the one I want to see. I know some don't like it, but the movie Top Gun is what made the F-14 famous with the general public. It also sparked an interest in aviation for me at a very early age. | |||||||||||||

| Re: What do you want for the next F-14?
MD, as much as I don't have any interest in Hollywood Birds, I would actually scoop one of these up in a heartbeat just because it sports a nice no-frills workin'class low-viz scheme....Just one low-viz scheme is all I ask. Other than that, I really don't care what other schemes they do. I'm getting the VF-111 Sundowners and I'm moving on. (VF-111 is Century's only [U.S. available] Cat without an anti-glare panel. For some reason I don't care for the looks of anti-glare panels on F-14s.... ) | ||||||||||||||

| Re: What do you want for the next F-14? There is nothing like coming down on final into the sun with a bright shiney nose glare hitting you in the eye. Only have ot have it happen to you once to really appreciate that black paint job on the nose of any aircraft. | |||||||||||||
