Re: Which is most desirable ??

During my frantic search for a VF-84 Tomcat I was pointed towards the Black Aces bird as an alternative. I hesitated at first because of the black nose being a little unfamiliar to me in my minds eye. I decided to get one as a compromise because the rest of the planes color scheme is extremely close to a VF-84 F-14. When I got the model and put it on display I was totally blown away by all aspects of the model and from every angle viewed. I will never sell or trade this model because it is just stunningly beautiful. That said, I still want and desire and will not too long from now have the ever elusive swing wing VF-84 Jolly Roger F-14. I am in heaven and can finally get some sleep. The poll asks which is the most desireable of the 3. Aesthetically I truly feel the Black Aces is visually more desireable. Historically I think owning anything Jolly Rogers would be desired before an Aces bird. Conclusion: For looks it's the Aces bird no doubt for popularity it's the Bones bird. For a cool and unique pop icon scheme it's gotta be the rabbit.
My vote was for the Black Aces and I encourage anyone who has a chance to own one to try to do so before they are lost to history forever.

Re: Which is most desirable ??

It seems like there is realy something with the skull and crossbones, apart from the Jack Ernie story. I'm one of the guys who grew up watching Macross/Robotech during the 80's. having seen Roy Fokker's Skull One, in Dogfight realy inspires me to own a real model of the true VF-84 Jolly Rogers. which at that time, I never thought it realy existed.

And like most collectors here, we do have a lot of preference of which is the " TOMCAT " to own if you could only have one of these Jets. I will go the VF-41 Black Aces, for the overall looks of the Jet.

And over at Macrossworld, which I believe some members also hangsout here. there is a similar discussions on which " VALKYRIE " to own. and for obvious reasons a lot of people liked these scheme.

Burrowed some pics to illustrate my point.

Just my 2 cents...

You and an old timer named "Nuclear Tiger" from the MH1 days...would, I dare say, relate well with each other regarding the Macross/Robotech "Jolly Rogers" for sure!

Re: Which is most desirable ??

Looks like JR is way ahead of the pack...

Glad I ordered 2 VF-41s, one for display and the other stays in the Box. The Vandy will be displayed in the future.

Flyxwire,

Yah I do like Roy's Skull ONE

Re: Which is most desirable ??

Even though I voted for the Vandy 1 I still have to say that the Jolly Rogers birds are definitely the clear cut winners when it comes to desireability. Hell, I have a Vandy 1 but no Jolly Rogers...but that will change soon enough since I pre-ordered mine from Flying Mule.
